you can't ruin a sham
Mike Trout is making 20% of the Angels payroll. That's gotta be a record for one player.
Arietta is making 30% of the Phillies payrollMike Trout is making 20% of the Angels payroll. That's gotta be a record for one player.
is that even more than Greinke is with AZ?
I'm pretty sure, either way, it's not a record.

LOL
I stand corrected. Arizona's pitching staff makes up 1/2 their payroll, and Greinke makes 1/2 of their total pitching payroll. So he's in the 25% range of total salary.
Wow.
Well it is a fluid situation. The Phillies just signed Kingery for 6 years so that might change the percentages slightly. My bad ... I was rechecking my sources ...
I don't know if "offenders" is a good word. It is just the way salaries are set up in MLB.Thanks. Back when ARod was pulling $30M a year, Yanks had a payroll north of $200M.
When I saw Trout's number for 2018 it jumped out at me as crazily disproportional, but clearly there are (much) worse offenders.
I've learned that payroll dictates expectations
Guess it's another gravy season for the Yanks

I'd be curious how successful teams that have 1 player eating up over 20% of their total payroll have been historically.
I feel bad that the Red Sox wasted all that money......They could have bought some crappy Sam Adam's beer or some chowder instead...I've learned that payroll dictates expectations
