CBS is reporting that the Texans are going balls to the wall after both Malcolm Butler and Nate Solder. They are expected to drop bales of cash so large that neither will be able to walk away........

I think they'll pay extra for Solder just to make sure he is not protecting Brady.

According to Early Edition Dion Lewis may be about to agree to a three year deal with The Colts.

According to Early Edition Nate Solder will have a very difficult time walking away from the Houston Texans offer
rumored to be 3 years $42M, $24M guaranteed. But the Broncos, Raiders and Seahawks are also ready to play pigpile on the rabbit.

Malcolm Butler according to Early Edition has interest from the Saints, Raiders and Texans.

Looks like it may be time to move to Plan B.

So here is a legit question IMO if we lose Solder which appears to a foregone conclusion seeing as we saw nothing of Garcia last year does that now bump the priority for a LT up higher than say DB or LB? IMO it might. Or do they try to grab a FA Vet and stick to the the option of shoring up the defense?

If Belichick sees a free agent who he thinks can play near as well or as well as Solder in the Patriots offensive scheme and can hold a block for 4-5 seconds, he'll take the vet. If not, you can be sure that every kid who has played LT in college from Div. I through Div. III will be carefully poured over. Ideal size would be 6'6" - 6'8" and 315-330 lbs. Most critical is foot speed, not 40 yd speed.

Rumor from Bleacher Sports is that James Harrison has been talking to BB and Nick Caserio and considering returning to the Patriots for one more year.

You don't go from NE to Mia...you just don't. Get paid elsewhere. Not like he's broke.

It's payback. Over the last three seasons he restructured his contract every year to benefit the Patriots and when the Dolphins smelled blood in the water, they pulled a Welker on BB. Patriots have $20M in cap space. For some reason BB isn't dumping salaries that have almost zero impact on team performance like Dwayne Allen. Why? Dump Allen and offer DA two years at $12M and guarantee $8.5M? It would cost the Patriots a grand total of $2M and open a space for someone who can catch a football more than once a season.

Funny isn't it? Logan Ryan signed with the Titans last year and now Butler and Lewis are heading to Nashville.

I love Danny and he has been super clutch when he has been on the field.
But there is a reason he took a pay cut to stay with the Pats these past 3 years.
Cause he can't stay on the field all season. He has to be limited.
That does not equate to $12M/$8.5M value.
Glad for him.

Not sure of what to think of BB gutting the entire team.

WTF?

Giants expected to sign Patriots OT Nate Solder to 4-year, $60M deal

The New York Giants are expected to sign offensive tackle Nate Solder, a source told ESPN, confirming a report by NFL Network.

Solder will receive a four-year, $60 million contract, with a guarantee of about $35 million, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The 6-foot-8, 325-pound Solder has spent his entire career with the New England Patriots, who drafted him in the 2011 first round out of Colorado. He is arguably the top free-agent offensive tackle on the market, coming off a season in which he played in every game, protecting quarterback Tom Brady's blindside.

Solder, who turns 30 in April, is the fourth impact player to leave the Patriots, with Malcolm Butler and Dion Lewis intending to sign with the Tennessee Titans, according to Schefter, and Danny Amendola leaving for the Miami Dolphins, as confirmed by ESPN and first reported by the NFL Network.

Solder was an AFC Pro Bowl alternate in 2017. It marked the first time he received a Pro Bowl invitation, although he didn't play in the game because the Patriots were in Super Bowl LII.

Solder has played in 98 career regular-season games, with 95 starts. He has also played in 16 playoff games, starting each of those postseason contests. In 2015, he had signed a two-year. $20.62 million extension with New England.

Solder was the Patriots' 2017 Walter Payton Man of the Year nominee. He previously overcame testicular cancer, and his son, Hudson, was diagnosed with kidney cancer in 2016 and is once again undergoing treatments.

"Nate is someone of the highest character. We all respect Nate for what he has done with Hudson and how he is always there for him," coach Bill Belichick previously said.

Wait until we get thru the first rush of FA. If he hasn't fixed any holes come the draft and OTAs then I'll have to agree with you.

So far the only real losses are Solder and Lewis. Both getting way more then BB would be willing to pay.

DA will be missed but NE is flush on WRs.
Butler we knew was gone and personally I don't think we'll miss him once NE figures out their #2 corner.
