This is the question that everyone will look back on and answer with: A possible mistake. We gave up our second and sixth for this guy and then he walks because we can't meet his demands. I am not sure this was a good deal in the long run because we made Woods our number one guy by play on the field.

Was the Los Angeles Rams’ trade for Sammy Watkins worth it?
I'm going to say worth it.

Having Sammy on the field opened up things for Goff, Gurley, Woods & Kupp IMO, and that laid a foundation for offensive success we Rams fans haven't seen since early on in the Millennium.

Just knowing you are capable of a high level of success makes it worth it. Now that he's gone, if we can get similar numbers from another WR that Sammy had, we could be able to pick up where we left off.

I suspect that Pettis maybe a Ram after the draft now that Sammy is gone.
I "think" I can live with that, although I wish they could find a 6'4' guy that can run and catch, similar to Calvin Johnson, but those guys don't come along every day??

Bradford to the Cards, lol.

Looks like the Rams have a new target to knock out of the first Cards game...
Ya that would be sweet!! Or maybe even sweeter if he actually connected with some of the Ram "defensive receivers"

Well, Reynolds is 6'3 so he could be that guy.

You can't look at the Watkins trade in a vacuum like that Retro.

On paper it looks bad, a 2nd rounder and starting caliber CB for Watkins and a 6th rounder. But, what Watkins helped the Rams do this year can't be underestimated.

And, I'm sure the FO knew their chances were slim of keeping him due to their cap and their other FA's at the time they made the trade.

His numbers were pedestrian, but he also occupied the defenses best DB opening up things for Woods and Cooper, and his blocking was solid for Gurley.

I think, with what the Rams accomplished this past season, it was worth it overall. You can't say the Rams would've had the same success without him.

Woods now becomes the #1 guy taking the defenses best DB. Don't expect the same production from him next year. Look for Reynolds to benefit from Woods occupying the best DB just like he benefited from Watkins last season.

Plus, I fully expect the Rams to trade down to recoup their 2nd so it's all good. And even if they Don't, if they have another draft like this past one, it won't matter anyways.

Agree, plus Coop should be even better and have a huge year, the guy has great hands and good size, and "if" Reynolds becomes the other guy, he should also do well, or whoever the 3rd guy is???

Don't expect much from the Rams other than extending Donald and trying to work a long term deal for Joyner and trying to keep RC.

They won't have alot of cap space beyond that. Hopefully they can sign a guy like LB Davis to try and replenish the LB core before the draft.

Rams have too much in house FA's to deal with to be chasing other teams FA's.

Yep I don't see them doing much more, hopefully they have their eyes on some draft talent that other teams are over looking? while I like our DB additions, that wasn't our problem, we need LB, LB's, and maybe some LB's!!!!

That's what I saying about Josh Reynolds... The dude is a 6'3" D1 Track star who can be that guy.

Compared to Watkins, JR was less than a tenth of a second slower in the 40 (4.52s/4.43s); a better vert jump (37"/34"); similar broad jump (124"/126"); a slightly better 3 cone (6.83s/6.95s) & a better 20 yard shuttle (4.13s/4.34s)

With Woods/Gurley/Kupp drawing most of the attention, Reynolds is poised to have a break out sophomore season for the Rams. Whether he does or not is yet to be seen.

I don't know....not trying to be the debby downer here but the Watkins trade was somewhat robbery. Gave up a corner and a 2nd for a 1 yr rental who made it through the season. I think Watkins numbers would have been better with a 2nd year in the scheme but now I expect Woods and Cupp to have pedestrian seasons unless Higbee and the other TE step up big. Just another hole to fill without a number 1 wideout, not to mention a bunch of shitty reserves that are holding the LB spots. Do the rams expect to draft all LBs??? I mean....what's the plan here, besides to regress on defense.

Ya, it may suck, but I'm ok with it, we have sucked for years, it was nice to watch the Rams this year, and Watkins helped us get better, which makes us more attractive to free agents, which in the long run may help us!! Plus we just may find a diamond in the rough with Reynolds or whoever else fills that 3rd spot??

We will evidently see, we can only hope he or someone else is "the guy", it would be nice to finally get or have a WR draft pick that actually worked out for us???

1 year $20M with an option year for Bradford.

Rams should net a 3rd round pick for losing Watkins in next year's draft, provided they don't sign an expensive replacement.

4 teams in 5 years, does this officially make him a journeymen QB??:)

Do you want Suh on this team?

Did want him over that other guy we took when he was drafted, he might make a good addition, but I think I would pass on him now!!! I think our D line is fine, as Ive said, LB, LB, LB, LB!!!!!!!

The guy is an elite run defender, between the tackles is where we had our biggest issues.

That may be, but I think Brockers and Donald aren't to shabby, plus Donald would get double teamed which left it up to the LB's, we had no LB's that could stuff anyone either or , Plus Suh is what 33, and can be a head case, not sure McVey wants that
