I didn't start you off with some old school honky tonk. Hank 3 is kind of a cross between Country and metal. In fact, half of each show is country, the other half metal.
Well that makes sense, as the "Parental Advisory" sticker on the album cover did throw me off a little bit when I clicked on it from Spotify. I'm up to "D Ray White" now. Good guitar on this track after the intro singing (or is it a banjo? I honestly don't know).

Are you a Nick Cave guy? I just got into him recently. He's not country, but like a midwest rock guy. Kind of bad ass.

He did. And this isn't a knock, because you know what I think about them, but he's a lot like Willie Nelson and Kris Kristofferson in the fact that they're great songwriters but don't have a great singing voice, which is part of what makes them so unique and why I like them so much.

Couldn't agree more.

He is a busy dude. Assjack, Arson Anthem and Superjoint Ritual are as heavy as they come.

Might sound blasphemous, but of the 3 generations of Hank Williams, III is my favorite, and I say that as a guy that loves his dad, and damn near idolizes his granddad.

There's some hot banjer tracks later on the album, but he's still on the guitar on D Ray White(which is a song made for the documentary "Wild and Wonderful Whites of West Virginia" which is a must watch IMO).

Can't say I've ever listened to Nick Cave.

Plenty of popular bands I don't like, as far as bands that are actually good but just don't do it for me, Rush is the first that comes to mind.

Foo Fighters second. They're my favorite band I never listen to though.

I was a yuuuuge fan of them b4 anybody ever heard of them back from my first cassette I bought of them (Boy) in early '80s. I quit on them after Zooropa ... and I ain't ever heard anything of theirs since.

Their early stuff was epic, IMO.

I really liked their early stuff too. They were different. Then they sort of smoothed out the rough edges of their sound/style and got huge. I like their later stuff ok, but I never reach for some U2 anymore.

Early Aerosmith was good, but yeah when Tyler started looking like a goony monster soccer mom they sucked, if I never hear that song from Armageddon again i'll die a happy man!

Yeah they lost me when they started doing Linda Perry ballads.. pretty much anything after Rocks and probably Toys In The Attic, tbh.

Tough to say they are overrated tho, when they have arguably a top 5 guitarist, top 5 bassist and top 5 drummer.

Yeah, instrumentally they were kick ass, probably my favorite rock band for that and still I listen to them a lot. But I can understand why some might find them overrated. Townsend's compositions took some weird tangents that aren't for everyone. Their good stuff is just outstanding though.

My list is too long to even begin.

Btw, we need more threads like this one in Music. We all like music and god knows we all have opinions. How many "Songs about a vegetable" type threads are really necessary... no offense, yoga.

Also, I think Elvis was the worst of the Sun Records guys.

Love me some Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash and Roy Orbison. Elvis has always been pretty meh to me. I'm not a very religious guy, but honestly, I think Elvis's best work was his gospel songs.

The thing with Elvis is it was more than just his singing, which was very good to be honest but he had what none of those others you mentioned had, incredible appeal with the young ladies, I guess Jerry Lee did but that's another thread entirely...
