Does anybody know why we haven't given Morgan Frost a call up? Is it because of his age or something? I can never keep all the junior/NHL rules on this shit straight.

my guess is that bc he is 6ft 172lbs and would get mauled nightly. Hextall is very firm on not stunting the growth/progress of prospects. Also, d/t to his age, if he would come up I think he can only play 8 games and then go back to Jrs. or be on the NHL roster all year. It would also start his ELC, which for someone that is not a McDavid just doesn't make sense to bring up and waste a cost controlled year.

OK that makes sense, I just keep reading about all these guys tearing it up offensively in the other leagues and keep thinking why not just bring one of them up to replace, oh lets say, Lehtera, or one of our other non contributing sloths, I just figured were wasting that space anyways might as well experiment if we could.

The only deal i see worth doing is seeing what you could get for Simmer, If he he could bring back some just rewards then I say do it and bolster this team even deeper, IMO it would be a pretty hard decision because we've witnessed this team being able to hang with anyone right now. If you do it I guess it would also be an admission of were not ready yet, but you never know what a trade deal might bring. I would be a def no on bringing JVR back though.
I would explore as ive stated before i would like Patrick Maroon if it doesn't cost to much. Big tough winger who puts up 20 goals we could really use.
Yes we have seen this team be able to hang with anyone but we have also seen anyone be able to hang with us.I think Hexy stands pat. I would be nice to get rid of Weisse for anything even if you have to eat half the salary to do it its still 1.15 extra added onto the cap. I am a firm no on getting JVR for reasons stated in the past.

Hes a big fish in a very little pond right now. It may seem like a good thing to do but probably not next season either.

It's not just him though, there seems to be a few kids tearing it up. Are they all restricted from coming up other than the reasons Evilleflyer described, I was just curious if we could why we wouldn't, or bring a few up for a couple of games each? IDK I guess I'm to lazy to go read through all the specifics of those players contracts lol.

If they came up now as Eville said they lose a year on the ECL and that a huge salary cap concern down the road.

Ok I see that but is that for each one of those players? I guess I'd have to make a more substantial list but I.m referring to Lindblom, Myers etc, players in the GRAND PLAN.

I don't think they allowed to call up Frost now. At the beginning of the year it would've been the 8 game try out thing, burn a year of his ELC etc.

The rule that governs that is CHL players (Ontario, Quebec, Western Hockey leagues) have to be NHL or CHL if they're < 20 years old. AHL is not an option. Players are ELC slide eligible if they're playing in the CHL. So Frost's contract doesn't start until he plays in the NHL for more than 8 games, or plays in the AHL as a 20 yr old. So next year it will be NHL or CHL for him again. The scoring pace he's at this year is very similar to Konecny, so I wouldn't rule him completely out for the team next year. But, he's going to need to bulk up as mentioned. Carter Hart falls under this rule too, but he'll be 20 next season and is therefore AHL eligible in the Fall.

Lindblom and Myers (and Sanheim now) are in the AHL and could be brought up at any time. Hextall just doesn't. Patience and what not. IMO, Lindblom and Sanheim should be on the Flyers right now.

Agreed, and since players like Lehtera etc are contributing very little then the trade off is ok by me.

Im all for Lindblom taking Lehtera's spot but i think Sanheim should stay down until next year and then be up here to stay.

If we are sellers who do we sell?

If we are buyers who do we buy and for what do we buy them with?
