Which is another excuse that was debunked by the Eagles. They lost an MVP candidate in Wentz, The best LT in then NFL in Peters. One of the best LB's in the NFL in Hicks, Lost the dynamic Sproles and still managed to win.
You don't have to convince me. It's the hoop experts that continue to argue.

Next man up.

Notice you hardly heard mention of Edelman, Hightower, Branch being out. Just do it.

GB fans and a good portion of the hoop totally gave up as soon as Rodgers went down. That's pretty sad when people want to use that as an excuse. One player out of 53:doh:

Agreed, all you need is a good System QB, like Brady
Right after the last play of the first half, my brother sent me a text saying: we should start calling the screen pass a 'Tom Brady Hail Mary'

Not required, but makes it a lot easier.

IDK that Green Bay has a backup QB who could play as well as Foles did although Foles did have a great supporting cast yesterday on offense. The oline played well most of the game and the Philly receivers played really well. They deserve a lot of credit. Foles threw a few ducks during the game and the receivers made really good catches. I can't remember a dropped pass on either team. Philly was very well coached on offense and Pederson is much better than McCarthy on Green Bay. Never cared much for him.

It all comes back to balance. A team needs a couple stars and a lot of good mid level guys that can step in. Too many teams front load a bunch of big contracts. One a player or two goes down they don't have the depth to make up for it.

Then there is the coaching piece. Which starts with OTAs and camps right thru decisions being made in the SB:noidea: but this this thread is about QBs

Here is the thing we may have to consider. Nick Foles could very well be a franchise QB. He was fantastic when the Eagles drafted him. Then the moron Chip Kelly traded him. So he went to the Rams under Jeff Fischer where all QB careers seem to go to die. That clown has ruined many QB careers.

After Carson Wentz went down Foles struggled some with the Eagles offense. He just did not play as well. Doug Pederson proved that he is going to be a fantastic coach by tailoring an offense that is more suited to what Foles can run. It took him a few weeks but he got it right. Given the right system Foles would be a fantastic QB IMO.

Foles might play well on another team but I wouldn't give up the farm to get him either. Pederson had a well coached team last night on offense. Great oline play and the receivers played well too. There were a few really nice catches on some passes that were not all that well placed. Foles played well but he also had great support all the way around.

Here we go again, another year of Trend Dilfer, Joe Flacco, Doug Williams, Jim McMahon (yes I said it), Jeff Hostetler, Mark Rypien, Brad Johnson and Russell Wilson showing the world a franchise quarterback is NOT A REQUIREMENT to win the super bowl.

Yes, this stems from years of hearing the bears NEEDED JAY CUTLER to be a franchise quarterback, or give away a shit load of picks to move up to get Trubisky, who they would have gotten anyway just to have the Franchise guy.

Flame away, but this is yet another reality check.

Yes, some team will give up two years of first round picks to get Nick Foles from the Eagles to make him a "Franchise" quarterback, and he will never see another super bowl.
Wilson?

Umm, he's kinda a franchise player at this point.

Or...maybe you need two franchise QBs, one just in case.:noidea:

Did you watch the Packers?

That's a bad football team, with a great starting QB. People gave up, because their season was over. He's the best player in football imo. And his team is bottom five without him.

Absolutely. Always, it's a team effort. The fact that Eagles won with back-up QB only proves they had a solid team all around. Not a knock on Foles, he played very well. But the team was there for the full 60 minutes.

Russell Wilson shouldn't be mentioned w/ those other QB's. He's 1 of the best QB's in the game right now. Also he's never had a sub .500 season as a starter & has already played in 12 playoff games.

Completely agree. The guy is a franchise QB in every sense of the term

Is Eli actually good though? Peyton wasn't good his last SB. Ben is was sketchy his first SB.

Eli is an average QB who never gets hurt (Which is a big plus) but can have really good years and is big in the playoffs. In 2011 he passed for over 4900 yards and won with a team that had no running game (Might have been last in the league in rushing that year) and whose D line had been nicked up all year and got healthy for the playoffs.

Ben was sketchy in his first SB (As was Brady) but Ben also lit it up in the AFC championship game to get there.
