This new Monster is the bomb... Monster Mango Loco
Can anyone imagine TEs laying out like current ones do in the previous eras? Gronk and Kelce got knocked out in the playoffs but in previous eras that would be every. single. game.
After seeing some of the things Ditka has said and done I'm pretty sure that those old guys took some serious hits and never got the chance to really pad their stats like the modern TEs. Winslow is pretty much where the modern TE starts and his career would've been much better in this era.
Unitas...absolutely. Go back and look at old QB stats compared to new QB stats. There is more passing in today's game than yesterday's game. Oline rules, defensive back rules, types of coverages used, etc.So would that hold true to all positions.......?
Would Johnny Unitas`s career be much better in this era......?
Walter Payton......?
Jerry Rice........?
Also, you need to consider the basic/inherent skills that players of the past had, which are on par with those of today. It would be hard to not believe that greats of the past would be just as good or better with enhanced nutrition, training techniques, medicine, etc. of today. Bottom line is that comparisons are difficult and fuzzy at best because there are so many variables in the equation.Unitas...absolutely. Go back and look at old QB stats compared to new QB stats. Walter Payton? Debatable. Most people see him as a top 3 RB of all time but would he get the same number of touches in today's game?
Jerry Rice? He spent most of his career with Joe Montana, Steve Young and Rich Gannon. I think he basically was already in this era even if he wasn't but I could imagine him having better yardage stats in this era. Rice is the type of player who would be a HOF in any era.
Hernandez had more receptions per game in the three seasons they played than Gronk did. There is no one better than Gronkowski.....ever..........You people keep bringing up injuries, even tho he has had that injuries, theres never been a te with that much dominance as him.
Its not like he played only a few games in his career........Hes got numbers that are better/can be better than every te in the history of the game.........
You can say he`s playing with the best QB of all-time,but are the other players playing with Tom HOF worthy...........?
You will never see another te like Gronkowski when said and done..........
He's in the discussion for #2.If we're putting so much stock into eras, shouldn't Don Hutson be in the discussion for the GOAT WR?
Got weird at Target before it was cool.
He's in the discussion for #2.
Nobody is Jerry Rice though.
Even when they go to flags.Hard to imagine anyone ever topping Rice.

That prolly would've continued.

No, still Gonzalez. Gronk is getting close though.
Alright BossHe wasn't nearly as good a blocker as gronkowski. Nice try
