Funniest bit about this to me is that I'm not a homophobe. If Omar was gay, I'd be happy for him and say, "my, look at that beautiful blouse he's wearing." But he's not. He's married, and I just can't abide a straight dude dressing like that.

You got a problem with Russell Westbrook? Or Prince for that matter?

Congrats to all 4 on getting into the Hall, was hoping Edgar would make it in. Hopefully next year.

Would you consider Edgar part of the inner-circle of the HOF? If not, I don’t see how anyone could include him.

Like I said, if someone were to create a “Ha o Fa”, he would get my vote. But he does not belong in the “Hall of Fame”.

Chippier Jones was a lock and rightfully so.

Vlad Guerrero is in my hall of very good, but would not have received a vote from me if I was a BBWAA voter.

Jim Thome is a gawddamn softball player and was juiced out of is mind. He did parlay the "I'm too dumb to have cheated" all the way to a bronze bust, but this one is a fucking joke.

Trevor Hoffman averaged 60 innings pitched for 18 years and he gets into the HOF? Fucking pathetic :L

See, I think out of the four, Hoffman is the only one who should get in because at his position -- as lame-ass as it may be -- he was one of the most absolutely dominant players at that lame-ass position

I'd have taken this a lot more seriously, and petitioned for Vizquel's inclusion had this discussion taken place before he showed up to his Indians HOF induction ceremony at The Jake wearing a fucking blouse.

Buster Posey? Clay Kershaw?

Have either been in the league 10 years yet?

A little too soon there to make an assumption IMO. I thought John Smoltz would be a Braves lifer, but then he wanted to play one more year and played for Boston and St Louis for part of a season.

There might be some guys that have relatively short, but very productive 10 year careers for one franchise, but I was more or less talking about players spending nearly two full decades with the same team like Chipper and Jeter did.

I was just suggesting them as potential lifers, which would make your claim not correct...

Well God damn, son, save your gotcha for when the time actually comes. I hope you don't blow your load this quick in bed.

I still think that the low end of the ballot should be a test for who gets kicked out of the BBWA each year.

People who voted for Kerry Wood, Jamie Moyer, or Carlos Lee should be replaced.
seems like they would be votes to write an article around and get clicks.

Wait, out of those 4, you think Hoffman is the only one who should get in?

So, if the Padres offered the Braves Trevor Hoffman for Chipper Jones, would you think the Braves should take that deal?

this gets into positional value, which would be different, no?

Not to me. Personally I think the best players should be in the HOF, and positional value is key in determining who is a better player.

I understand that, but his point was, from a positional area, Hoffman was more dominant. I'm not going to argue either viewpoint, but the point was top X Closers vs top X 3Bs, obviously, RPs are still in their infancy as to where they fit in the hall, similar to DHs. I'm just bored, don't mind me.

Well I think Chipper is a top 5 or 6 third baseman of all time. I don't know if Hoffman is a top 5 or 6 closer of all time. And that's just ignoring the gap in value between being a third baseman and a closer. Which I think if monumental.

I guess this is the first I gave a brief glance at it (3B position) and by brief glance, I mean a 2 minute search. Never realized 3B was that devoid of talent that Larry is that high up on the list for most. He did have mad snowmobile skills.

False equivalency.

If you didn't get what I was saying: I understand that a reliever is a different value position than a good 3rd baseman. But when you ask a random baseball person to name the top relievers all-time, Hoffman's name is going to be in the first few mentioned. If you ask those same people to rattle off the top 3rd basemen all-time, are they going to rank Chipper in their top few?

I won't.

Ninja'd...pretty much what my point was.

And that's cool, agree to disagree. We're just spouting off opinions in here, after all.
