Their D Line did dominate but a lot of that was because of the ineptness of the coaching staff and its inability to even try anything to counter that blitz. They just kept pounding their heads against the wall trying the same old thing.
We got at least 3 sacks that I recall on plays we did not blitz. One of Hubbard's sacks came on a play where we rushed 3 guys.

Here's a potential problem with Haskins. He throws a hard ball. Those are the types of passes that can bounce off a receiver's hands and be intercepted. I would have liked to see him run a little more also.
I think he has the touch to be able to put them where they need to be though. From what I've seen from him, he also knows when to fire it and when to have touch. When he signed, Urban called him the best passer he's ever recruited. I am more excited for him at QB than any other player at any other position that I can recall in recent memory.

It's hard to make adjustment when the defense comes up the middle and from the left and the right. I suppose they could go to a 4 man backfield like the good old days, but that does tend to limit the passing game.

There is no sense in him staying at USC for another year. It's not really his fault. Behind a decent O line he could be great. Without it, he'll get killed.

If he goes to Cleveland, FedEx will be mailing whatever is left over back to California at the end of the season.
Iowa certainly had no problem doing it. nor did Oklahoma or Wisconsin for that matter. But those coaching staffs are groups of professionals not amateurs like SC.

Incorrect. I'm a buckeye fan, but nice assumption on your part, inspector clouseau. just admit that you had no idea how good OSU's defense was and it completely overwhelmed you as a fan, even moreso than the USC team itself. To compensate, you start throwing around "refs this" and "refs that" to soothe your butthurt ego.

Multiple southern cal reporter accounts hinting that they weren’t getting calls. Obviously im not reaching here. Sure there were other aspects like darnold turnovers that impacted game as well.the botched calls. I’m fine with defense being good if you don’t have to pull and grab before the ball gets there. The catch that wasn’t along with missed early PI that killed 2 drives right there. The INT for a TD likely never happens. Pressure was up with score being 10-0. Usc defense was pretty good too. Pretty much only differences was Buckeyes offense got to hold and no calls. On the long Barrett TD run there were blatant holds by 3 different guys. I was at the game and met more realistic fans for both teams that admitted USC was getting screwed

And those came from Darnold's inability to get past his first read. He is not very smart.

Let's hope you're right. Overall I feel good about him.

*gasp* a homer twitter post?? I'm aghast!

you were AT the game and found time to bitch/whine as much as you did, on this website? I call bullshit, you're lying. But please, keep crying for the sake of entertaining us now that our offseason is here.

"that TD likely never happens" so in addition to being a super-sleuth detective, you're also nostradamus, incredible.

You've got to be the biggest bitch on the college football board, congrats on your well-earned reputation.

It happened because we dominated the USC OL. Darnold played the entire game having to constantly move around and dodge OSU defenders. That's not a reflection of his intelligence.

There was holding by the USC OL on damn near every play in the game. I don't want to hear a goddamn word about holding calls.

Nope I was in a suite but have little reason to prove to a T-shirt fan.

Lol like your oline wasn’t holding. Barrett doesn’t break off that long TD run without 3 holds and a tackle

Yeah, the Buckeyes came in averaging almost 600 yards per game and our defense held them to 277. USC outgained them and had the ball longer. The difference was, our defense got stops, their defense forced turnovers. Those 8 sacks the o-line gave up didn't help either.

But it was the coaches fault by some accounts. You can give instructions but if you don’t execute, you have no results. USC lost due to poor OL play, and outstanding DL play by OSU.

Congrats to OSU, about fing time

Agree. I think USC may need to get a new o-line coach. Last years o-line was better than this years and I wasn't impressed by last years o-line at all.

The problem is, will Helton be able to pull the trigger and fire a guy who is apparently good friends with his Dad? He needs to fire him, or at least demand a clear plan from the guy on how he's going to improve that line and give him 1 season to get it done.

Dude, you seriously have a problem with the staff, you either don’t understand football or one of that staff were fucking your daughter, they can make all the changes they want, but if you don’t execute you don’t succeed.

The OL play for USC was horrible last night, but let’s also give credit to OSU D too.....

I thought the USC D played really well given the circumstances...It's slightly demoralizing when your offense coughs up the ball on half their possessions. It is especially bad when you give them a short field.

Kudos for showing some back bone and not letting this one get away from you, this had all the hallmarks of a blowout at half time and you guys stayed in the fight.

My only coaching complaint was that USC did not seem to make many adjustments to deal with Ohio State's defensive line. Whether through play calling or protection.

Yes, the ref seemed to let a lot of shit go...but that's how SEC refs roll. I figure it is just punishment for foisting PAC-12 refs on the rest of the bowl community.
Thank you.I agree the defense has kept them in games all year.Ad they definitely showed up last night. The problem was turnovers. Tee is a great recruiter but he's very hit and miss calling the plays on offense. No idea why he didn't call some screens and get Jones and Carr in space. With the OSU pressure
