You know this how?
He was the number one quarterback recruit in the country, you think he would just be ok with burning any chance of making the pros so that he can sit the bench without some assurances that he had the job all but down up?

My point exactly, we (i.e. YOU) really don't know

Look I am not going to wretch if he comes in and starts and has a great career. However, I am not convinced that he was given anything other than an opportunity to compete for the starting position (pending NCAA clearance). But lets indulge your hunch here. You think a coach is going to tell a transfer player "you come here you are my starter?"

So who transfers first, Peters or McCaffery?

Neither...if Shea Patterson is as good as folks say, he will probably be in Ann Arbor for only one season. Depending on the quality of his play next year, there is a very good chance that Shea Patterson will probably forgo his Senior year at Michigan for the NFL.

I think it’s no different than when recruiting a player you are going to tell the player pretty much whatever they want to hear to get them to chose your school.

While I agree with the treatment as a recruit, I cannot see an old fashioned promise about starting. Specifically in this case, Michigan has McCaffrey eligible so you dont think he will have an opportunity to compete for the spot?

Michigan has a tough SoS last year and it looks like it is only going to get tougher next year.
Notre Dame > Florida
Western Michigan > Cincinnati
SMU > Air Force
Northwestern > Purdue
Nebraska < Minnesota

Who knows what Northwestern will be next year and Purdue saw a serious change this year.
Minnesota won big this year but Nebraska gets a new coach and they usually are respectable.

One major plus for Michigan is they are young. Penn State will be losing Barkley and McSorley so I expect them to take a step back. Michigan has MSU and OSU on the road which is not ideal. And how the fuck do you guys get Wisconsin three straight years?

Our schedule is absolutely brutal next year. Notre Dame on the road. Ohio State on the road. Michigan State on the road. Northwestern on the road. Penn State and Wisconsin at home. And while I’d like to say the Nebraska game will be an easy win — who knows what they will become with Frost as the HC.

I wish we could have swapped this year with next years schedule.

Who knows? The best quarterback on your team last year was buried on the third string and the coaches screwed the pooch by being stubborn.

I can’t imagine any coach guaranteeing a starting spot to a QB. Especially when the QB is coming from a spread offense with a limited playbook to a pro style offense which, IMO, is almost too complex for a college kid. I can see them telling him he will be given every chance to be the starter, but any coach who pulls a QB in the middle of a NFL season when they are 8-2 and ranked 4th in QB rating is definitely going to play whoever they feel is the best QB.

If Patterson is the starting QB, I really hope they mold the offense to his strengths instead of trying to force him to stay in the pocket. They neeed to use his legs and roll him out, add a few RPO plays, etc

Peters was the most talented, but his biggest issue was the playbook. Even after becoming the starter, he turned the wrong way a few times to hand the ball off.

Ohio St has ever had a player transfer in? If I am not mistaken (and I am not), wasn't the 2017 Heisman Trophy winner also a transfer?

I'm just taking a jab at the supposed "QB Guru" Harbaugh......you think such a guru would have his own QB ready by now and not have to rely on poaching transfers from a school hit by sanctions.

I do not disagree with you. That was supposed to be his strong suit and it has been pretty underwhelming

This should move Michigan from 4th to a solid 2nd in their B1G division.

I kinda like PJ. I mean he's in Minnysoda so he's got that working against him

(Dear Screaming Eagles fans, that was not intended as a shot at you, your team just sucks. Its not really your fault)
