Yeah I just included those two to give context. Powell is the 4th oldest of six current coaches, but compared to Raggs and Gardner he is younger.
Fair.

Bochy 62
Meulens 50
Powell 52
Herges 47
Wotus 56
Alguacil 45
Dunston 54

Giants' have a pitching coach:

Curt Young was let go by the A's this past summer. Stays in the Bay.

So that's pretty much it, outside of an assistant hitting coach.

Doesn't look so young anymore.

Nope.

I'm really not sure what to make of this yet.

My initial opinion is I don't like it. The A's had a 6+ ERA when he was fired, I mean there must have been some grounds.

Is he an analytics guy? Not sure yet. Analytics don't have an age requirement. The A's aren't the most forward thinking team out there (Moneyball is old now).

Perhaps Herges is the big-time analytical guy and Young is the pitcher whisperer. Then again, why not just keep Raggs around for that.

IDK until I do more research.

I feel like the lack of word from the Giants' side of things leads me to believe BamBam is staying.
Supposedly, the Yankees have made their decision but won't say yet which of the two they picked.

Not only are major coaching changes facing the ML squad, behind the scenes the front office has dramatically overhauled the minor leagues.

These are big changes folks. Official names have yet to be announced, but an additional coach is being added to each level, in addition to new assistant personnel directors.

Also this should put to rest some concerns about the Giants' direction. They are absolutely committed to rebuilding the system, acknowledge their position. Rumors suggesting otherwise can be put to bed.

That's one of the best articles I've read this offseason. Glad to know that they will put time, personnel and energy into rebuilding. But hopefully they are looking toward developing guys for our 25 man roster, not just for trade fodder.

The only reason he isn't expected to take over for Boch is because he is expected to get another managerial job before Boch steps down.
And that's what the blurb mentioned. I doubt Bochy steps down until after his contract is up, so the Giants expect Meulens to be gone.

It's a breathe of fresh air, and also nice validation after seeing some questionable rumors.

Yes it is. However, with all of the different quotations and rumors swirling from different levels of the club, I am a bit "wait and see" on if this will truly be applied at the level needed to make things happen.
