I can tell you that whether I get excited about the Eagles or not, it will have no bearing on what they do the rest of the season. This team is consistent and a tough team for anyone to play? Does it mean they'll win it all? Nope, but they've got a much better shot at it this year than I ever could have imagined.

I'm excited and I thought they always had a chance. Who knew how fast Wentz would develop and with these coaches he is flying along the curve. Been very annoying to hear all the tempering of excitement over the last few weeks. I'm back to mostly listening to cds in the car again but I love football talk.

With what you can get in trade for draft picks currently, teams are missing the boat by not making trades.
Ajayi for a 4th round? San Fran gives up only a 2nd rounder for a QB they feel can be their franchise guy. From one source, there is only a 27% chance of getting a long term starter in the 2nd round.

What stats tells us about the draft by round

Of course the length of time left on a contract can play a part, but I think teams need to be confident that they can sign players to extensions.

I'm not seeing the serious cap problems for 2018. They've got $5 million in cap space already and can make another $15 million by cutting Peters (depending on health), Celek, and Torrey Smith. Another $5 million if they cut Vinny Curry. There are a handful of guys who could be re-worked (Johnson, Jenkins, Brooks, Kelce, and Graham) to create more space.

That's good news but just writing off Peters forever? We have tons of FA. Alshon, Hicks contract coming up soon, Jernigan. Celek needs to stay around for veteran leadership but not at 5 mill. Wentz is gonna want 150+ million in a year.

I'm not writing Peters off but it's a possibility. All I'm saying is that they've got some flexibility. I don't think they'll give Jernigan big money -- but the defense is so good that maybe they'll have to. Hicks isn't a free agent until 2019 (and he has injury issues). Alshon will have to be brought back but we can afford that.

Yeah, as good as Lane Johnson is he didn't have a great game. I think he's all pro still even if Kerrigan gives him fits! Barnett is showing big promise.
Picking late in the first round is evident but great LBers and Guards can be found there. I'd love a star Guard plugged in at LG.
