The Browns trade away their #1 pick whenever a legit franchise qb is available. The use the #1 pick on a qb when there is not a legit franchise qb available. The Browns are a train wreck

Hard to blame Jackson on not taking a QB high. That seems pretty clearly a management decision. You hire a moneyball GM and this is what you get. Although it is hard to blame the Browns for not taking Prescott given that every other team but one skipped him several times.

Let's ask this question a little differently. Would Prescott, Wentz, Goff, or Watson be doing well in Cleveland?

Totally fair and decent point. The answer is probably no, they would struggle, just as Goff struggled with the Rams before getting a real offensive coach. The situation a QB goes into obviously matters.

Was Donovan McNabb way better than Tim Couch, or was he just fortunate to be drafted by a team coached by Andy Reid, who subsequently signed Jon Runyan as right tackle and solidified the OL for his young QB?

Cleveland doesn't know which players to pick at any position. Their skill players are a joke despite oodles of draft selections. That said, it has to start somewhere. You could argue that you build the lines and the skill positions and then draft a QB, but I see little of that happening in Cleveland, at least on offense.

On Wentz:

Jackson ultimately decided he would rather attempt to resurrect the moribund career of former No. 2 overall pick Robert Griffin III than pull the trigger on his own quarterback of the future once Goff was off the table.

Report: Browns didn't see Wentz as top-20 QB talent

I don't have anything against Hue, but this ^^^^^ decision alone should've been cause for immediate termination as Cleveland's HC followed by immediate expulsion from the state of Ohio.

What's with all the Hue Jackson hate on this board?

I don't know much about him, but I'll say this......the problems in Cleveland don't have much to do with him. They sucked before him, and they'll suck after he's gone.

Because the core problems are not who's coaching, or who's on the team. The problem is, and always will be the FO until they clean house.

This guy didn't think they could be franchise NFL QBs.

Premature to call any of them "franchise" QBs for one and how the fuck would the Cleveland Browns know what one of those looked like anyways?

The owner actually. It starts at the top. But you make a good point. Hue doesn't have a chance.

Hue never deserved the job

There are HC that would be better than 1-21

There have been winnable games, this past Sunday included

I'm undecided if ol' sarge here is just regular mad or if he's Mike Ditka stark raving crazy mad. Regardless, that's hellified statement he just made.

Hue deserved the job, he worked his way up like every other assistant. Whether he's good enough to keep it is another matter entirely. But let's not act like he wasn't qualified.

The league is FULL of terrible coaches, but all of them earned their positions and a right to fail.

The problem in Cleveland is it really doesn't matter. The FO and the coaching staff have no centralized plan, they don't re-sign or keep their quality players, and they rarely if ever support the HC. The GM is a moron. The owner fires everyone BUT FO personnel that are screwing up.

Respectfully dis-agree

Hue was the OC of a Cincy offense that became a playoff punch line, Dalton never won a playoff game with HUe as the architect of that offense

Like you said, its a total crapshoot

So gimme the guy that destroyed an Alabama defense TWICE, that no one ever destroys

For me, thats a big time football player

Coaching, coaching, coaching.

I'd lay that on Dalton......Hue can't execute the plays for them.

And my point still stands. When was the last key player the Browns retained? When was the last time they actually SUPPORTED a HC with competent drafting and getting players to fit the system in place?

Agreed, but there are other teams in the league that are run in a similar porous manner

But 1-21 is 1-21

The Deshone Kizer era is apparently over in Cleveland, at least for now. It is time for the Kevin Hogan era, says Hue Jackson. Shop accordingly Browns fans!

They should've started Hogan to begin with....Kiser would have been better watching first 5 or 6 games in the giving him the offense...

Speculation is they don't want a Deshone Kizer versus Deshaun Watson matchup this weekend, because, well, one guy is really good and he's not Deshone.
