New England had already began the improvement because of their defense. They were six in scoring for Brady his first season. I have shown you before what his defenses were. You just want to give credit to the QB, unless it is Dilfer.

Roethlisberger's defense was #1 in scoring when Pittsburgh made their turnaround and Ben was garbage.

NYG were 8-8 in year 3 of Eli and 6-10 year 1.

Russell Wilson had the number 1 defense and Seattle was already a good team.

Has Cam really changed Carolina? They are good some years and crappy others.

Matt Ryan? Look at his years. Some good, some bad.

Really on Winston?

Then how come New England didn't have this historic dynasty run til Brady was QB?

How come the Steelers didn't win Super Bowls after Bradshaw til Big Ben came in?

How come the Giants didn't win Super Bowls after 1990 until Eli was the QB?

How come Seattle wasnt a contender or didn't win a Super Bowl til Russell Wilson was QB?

Carolina win three straight division titles, a 15-1 season and a Super Bowl appearance. Carolina has been to the playoffs 7 times in franchise history. 3 of those have been with Cam as QB.

Matt Ryan took a 4-12 team that hadn't made the playoffs in 3 years and made them a playoff team 5 out of the last 9 years.

And like I've said, if 1 game over .500 and always being an on the edge of making the playoffs kinda team is good enough for you, more power to you. For me as a fan, that wouldn't be good enough.

What? Because we don't have a top defense in place.

If you get rid of KC, because we don't have a top defense, then we will suffer a setback, likely.

No, that's not my question what I'm asking is why not build the defense as these other teams have done, then get your guy? I know that it has not been done, but many here were suggesting that for at least 3 seasons ago. BTW: we're not a horrible team now.

I can answer this. Because you'll end up using all your resources trying to find one competent enough, therefore you can't fix the other area of needs you have. That's been the problem for years now with this team

That's not an answer, who says that the reverse can't happen first? It has worked with the other teams that he mentioned and there are current teams like Houston and Denver in similiar situations. (Houston less so because of Watson)

Because they didn't have Bellicheck defense.

Because the steelers didn't have the number one defense and the Bus.

You claimed they were better in the first two years. Eli wasn't. I showed you that by bringing up the first three years.

Seattle didn't have Lynch and the number one defense. They were already good.

Newton has been starting for six seasons. He has two seasons better than KC. His defenses were ranked 2 and 6 in scoring in those seasons. The other four years are worse than KC's worst starting season. KC's best defense was ranked 18 in scoring I believe and he is yet to enjoy a running game. Yes, I do realize Cam is a big part of that running game because he really isn't a great QB.

KC took a 3 win team to the playoffs. KC has also been to the playoffs 50% of the time. Tell me this...has Ryan had seasons below 50% winning?

This is the absurdity of the winning QB argument. If you are not Brady or Peyton, then your teams still lose some years. It is a team game.

Isn't that what we are doing? Building a team now, so eventually we can consistently win with whomever the QB is at the time? Now, if we go away from KC, we will have to overpay another unproven veteran QB to come here to a new system and hope he can play as well as KC. Or, we will trade up for the next big thing and force him into the game.

BTW...I think it is a forgone conclusion we will go away from KC and screw this up.

Nope, that might be what we're doing now, but this is Kirk's 3rd year as a starter and we are just now investing in defense. Where has the organization been? Dicking around because I don't believe that there's going to be any sort of concerted effort in that regard until Bruce Allen is completely out.
I agree Kirk is gone, unless what follows is a Bruce Allen firing/forced resignation, things will always be screwed up

And Big Cuz was just one win shy of bringing The Skins to consecutive playoff berths.

Half a win. If we had beaten the Bengals, we would have made the playoffs. INstead.. we tied.

I don't know. 2016, our second and third rounders were defense. I don't think, or I hope we are not making a concerted effort to draft anything. I hope we are being smart and drafting the best player available.

BTW...I am a huge fan of our 2017 draft. I see a lot of value picks in it.

Can anybody say he isn't good enough?

Honestly. Our defense has been atrocious in our two most successful seasons in 20 years and we want to give up on the most important position player on the team after two seasons as a starter?

I definitely dont think you definitively can say either way. Hence my repeated use of ifs (plus if I dont clarify the Ifs all the time I get yelled at :D).

You discount the biggest factor in this. the owner. And much like a few in our fan base, the owner would much rather keep bringing in the sexy QB that sells jerseys, than build the rest of the team and work around a competent, yet un-flashy QB. Its why we went for Bob, instead of settling for Tannehill or Cousins. (And yes I think if Mike and Kyle would have had there way, we would have drafted Cousins in the 2nd round of 2012 and be past all this crap already)

how can anyone say he isnt good enough ? he has been a winning qb since he took over , no reason to ASSUME he wont continue that

Against teams that have won 8 games or more in a season Kirk's record is 5-13. Against teams that have won 9 or more games in a season Kirk's record is 2-11. Both victories against the 9+ win teams came last year against NYG and GB. And the win against NYG, at least for me, lost some luster due to not defeating the Giants when we had the playoffs to play for and all they had for incentive really was not being swept by us.

And yes, the defense gave up too many 1st downs on 3rd dn last Sunday. The WRs dropped too many passes, the OL played like ass, we had no running game and the game-plan was too imbalanced for the type of game that was played. But in what I thought would be a rubber hits the road moment. When the Skins could've taken a lead and quelled fears about our RZ offense, at least for the moment. Kirk came up short once again.

The real questions I guess are........

For those of us who don't believe in Kirk at this time. Can he turn it around?
For those who do believe in Kirk at this time. Can he continue to grow?

I don't know the answer to either question. I know in his first opportunity to answer those questions or to start building a response as the case may be. Those answers came up lacking for me.

If that's unreasonable to some or being a hater.....<Shrugs>...I don't know what to tell you except while we may be looking at the same thing (watching Redskins games) We're not seeing the same things and/or have different barometers of how we measure QB play.

I agree with this, your numbers don't lie, however, considering what you've just written, why do you suppose it is that there are some here who continue to proclaim that the team will suffer a setback or face a rebuild if, as is evident by your facts, our team also has a top defensive team in place when we get the new QB? (As was the case for N.E., Pittsburg, and Seattle)
The team will suffer a setback. We will have to use an inordinate amount of resources finding our next QB. This will stunt our investment in other areas like building a stout defense. Not sure why that is so confusing.

Every QB in football has a worse record against good teams than they have against bad teams. That is the reason some teams are good and some are bad.
