But I think overall it is really close. I dont have either in my top 3 2B of all-time

But thats the thing it's not close, take the big red machine away from Morgan and he's an average player, Carew played on shit teams his entire career and was still the best hitter in baseball for a decade!

What does the team have to do with his ability to draw walks, steal bases and his defensive effort. The only thing that applies to his winning, runs and RBI's really.

Seriously? Look at his numbers his first six full seasons with Houston, he was average, he got to the Reds and bam he was great? No, the team around him was great. It's sad you don't understand how the team around a player can affect their numbers.

Well maybe it is a mental thing with some guys or maybe he hit his prime later than most. His eye at the plate and abiity to steal bases has zero to do with the team, sorry there is no way you can say a better team affects this unless you say he had more confidence mentally being a part of a great team or some shit?

I remember having this discussion on another board with a raging Twins honk several years ago but it was with regards to Alomar rather than Morgan.

The problem in comparing Carew to most other HOF 2B's is that only he played about 1100 games there and wasn't a particularly strong defender when he did. Comparing his entire career to Morgan's (or Alomar's) is closer to a toss-up, but strictly as 2B's, Morgan destroys Carew.

I was just messing about the midget thing, but he was only like 5'6 or 5'7 and he did crouch down when he was in the box so his zone was much smaller than most and he took advantage of it.

I hate that this somehow seems like i'm bashing Morgan that is not at all what i'm doing, I actually like him quite a bit, I just find it hilarious that people believe Morgan was better than Carew, I really don't mean any offense but that to me is just stupid.

Homer alert! Which is fine. I said Carew was the better hitter but it doesnt make him the better player considering Morgan did everything else better. If you would have said "who is the better hitter" thsn Carew is the correct choice. I dont think many will agree wth you
