I do wonder how the calls between JD and the other GMs will go. At this point does a GM worry about offending JD by asking him to trade some of our players for prospects. It has been awhile since we were in this predicament if we ever have been. That is, becoming sellers according to record and standings so close to the deadline. That would be a good story line for one of our "esteemed" local writers to ask about after the deadline passes.

I would listen to what teams can offer for Hamels. Cashner may be able to land us something of value also. Ross should be available, but he has ruined what value he had. Of course, Darvish has to be on the block unless they are currently in negotiations with him.

They are also "in the hunt" for one of the two worst records in the AL. JD has to be realistic. Also, this may be one week after the AS break, but that is when trades are usually made so decisions have to be made now.

I think they could get something, but not a lot. Some will look at his .857 OPS for the past 3 months and think he can help them off the bench or in a platoon situation down the stretch. When we traded for him 2 years ago he had started off that year very similar to how he started off this year, but he never really did rebound nearly as much as he has this year.

I think you missed my point. We were well out of the race when we made that trade and a few others since. Being sellers isn't new. Being on the cusp of contending, but not good enough to not be sellers is fairly new for us.
