I don't see how it could affect future free agents. It isn't like we would be doing him a disservice. As far as trade partners go I don't see how they would care at all.

For one thing, we could be a team which might appear on other players "teams I cannot be traded too". Right now, I'm not sure we're a destination location, but at the same time, it seems that many players/teams think Texas is a good place to call home.

And it doesn't matter if we aren't doing him a disservice or not. If it's a perceived slight, then it's real.

It seems Beltre is one of the most respected players in the game, and if he's upset, that doesn't bode well for the organization.
