Really shouldn't be on this team.

He's got one of the best avg and the best OBP on this team.

He's not an everyday RF, granted. But to say he shouldn't be on the team is way over the top.

Think I heard we are 4 for 31 in our last 8 games with RISP. Wow, that's awful.

People (not here, in general I mean) keep mentioning how JD is "hard at work" adding a bullpen piece or two... Great, but how does that address this putrid offense?

Speaking of BP pieces. Do the Mariners think they're in the hunt for a WC position?

The Seattle Mariners acquired right-handed reliever David Phelps from the Miami Marlins after the teams agreed to a trade on Thursday, according to ESPN and multiple reports.

The Marlins reportedly will receive four prospects (Outfielder Brayan Hernandez, 19, and right-handed pitchers Brandon Miller, 22, Pablo Lopez, 21, and Lukas Schiraldi, 23) in exchange for Phelps.

But to answer your question, honestly, there's not much to be done for the immediate future with this offense. We are just so dependent on the feast or famine games across the board, just not much we can do without just sending Nap away for damn near nothing, perhaps maybe exactly nothing, and sending Lucroy elsewhere.

Could you see us DFA Nap?

No, because I think Gallo has some sort of injury thing where he can't play all the time, so keep Napoli around to rest Gallo.
After the sell off I would expect Rua would come back up so he could play 1B when Gallo sits.

I'd prefer Rua get consistent appearances at AAA (assuming he currently is, I don't know) than to be a part-timer up here.

I think at that point he would play everyday up here. That is, if we sell, sell, sell.

where does Gallo play?
It depends on who they trade. Joey plays 1B mostly I would think, but if Beltre is traded then he probably plays 3B. If they trade enough players Gallo, Rua and Profar may get to play every day.

To me Beltre, Lucroy, Gomez, Choo, and Odor need to be on the list of position players that we listen to offers for.

Anyone notice that Nick Williams is hitting .318 with an OPS of .960 in his first 57 AB in the big leagues this year. By the way, he is playing everyday.

I want to get some team's version of Nick Williams and Lewis Brinson within the next few days. A starting pitcher or two of their talent level would also be nice.

God forbid they trade Beltre.

"Potentially" the biggest problem I see by trading Beltre would be disrupting the overall culture of what the organization stands for.

If Adrian says, "yeah, no problem. I'd like to win a title, etc" then so be it. But if he doesn't, it's going to be tough shedding him regardless of what we may get back. It could have ripple effects not just within our team now, but future FA, and trade partners.

I don't see how it could affect future free agents. It isn't like we would be doing him a disservice. As far as trade partners go I don't see how they would care at all.

To me it all comes down to what we would get back for him. I don't see us competing throughout the duration of his contract with us. When we are competitive again the team will be so much different that Beltre will be of no effect if we trade him or not. New leadership will emerge or will be signed in free agency.
