I could understand that if he thinks Darvish and Hamels will be dominant in the second half. I still think trading Lucroy must happen tho. Hopefully for bullpen pieces or prospects.

Fartolo colon has signed with the twins. How much longer could this fatso keep it up?

Whatever.... I'm just glad he's not in the AL west anymore. It used to piss me off watching our lineup try to hit against him and get shut down every time.

Just curious... is there any player that does not piss you off?

If he really sees things that way then his stubbornness on this issue will lead to the team's demise of longterm mediocrity. We will be over the next decade what we have been for the last 5 seasons before this one--the MLB version of the post-Super Bowl Cowboys. The main difference being that we never won the big one before the malaise set in.

My two cents.

If what we have to sell or are willing to sell does not land us an upper tier pitching prospect, then is it worth selling for what we already have in the farm system?

I'd like to see us as sellers, and not just for upper tier pitching.

But I do see where JD is coming from.

For one, we need more than an upper tier pitcher. We don't have an upper level, upper tier prospect in COF, CF, or Catcher. We don't really have any at any position other than Guzman but we do have younger players at the big league level at the other positions. I believe we have one prospect in the recently released Baseball America top 100 prospects and he is s lower level CF who has potential, but who hasn't shown that numbers-wise. We could use help across the board, but especially in those positions I listed above.

Also, the prospects that we get back are more than just future Rangers, some are currency that can be spent on an upper level upper-tier pitcher if need be.

I also am not convinced at all that if we make the right players available that we can't get an upper-tier pitching prospect back. Maybe even 2 or 3 of them.

We should see him move one or two pieces at least. That doesn't automatically make us "sellers" in my mind. If he doesn't trade Lucroy, a guy who has value, contending teams want, and won't be here next year, then he's clearly not thinking. We seem to have a lot of guys with expiring contracts next year, if we are indeed "sellers" you could see 6 or more trades.

Well exactly who are you suggesting we sell.

Who are those guys that will bring back prospects/players of value? Lucroy and who?

Despite what so many think, I believe Choo could be a good trade piece. He'll definitely only have good value in the AL, but still, that's a lot contending teams.

DeShields, under the right conditions/team need could prove a terrific trade commodity.

Hamels and Darvish could for sure
lucroy for sure
Cashner might be a good #4 or #5 on a contending team, he could help a contender get through the last few months of the season by eating up innings / starts and still giving them a decent chance to win.
Someone might take a flyer on Gomez for depth purposes
I wouldn't rule Ross out completely, but it's highly unlikely there
Beltre could go to management and request a trade, or we've seen JD give his veterans the shortend of the stick before for the betterment of the team ( kinsler). I know Fielder didn't live up to expectations, but it was the right move if you take out the fact that dombrowski pulled a fast one and / or the Rangers didn't do their " due diligence"

I think Choo is untouchable because of his albatross contract, the Rangers would keep Elvis as someone to build around and a lot of the contenders this year have good short stops anyway. Nobody wants odor and Mazara is untouchable, if the Rangers wouldn't trade him ( and other prospects) for Chris sale, they probably wouldn't trade him for anyone else.

What are you referring too here? Where's the short end for Kinsler?

Nobody wants Odor. I beg to differ.
