There were three wild pitches by the Rangers Tuesday, two of which resulted in runs. Also, a couple of pitches that seemed down the middle called balls. It raises again the question of whether Jonathan Lucroy, once considered one of baseball's best pitch framers, has declined in that skill.

That has always seemed to me like a skill that might be based more on luck, umpiring and reputation anyway.

Happy to see Leury Garcia having some success this year. It is interesting that both he and Odubel Herrera leave here and their new teams try them in CF. Profar goes to the WBC and they put him in CF. For some reason the Rangers are reluctant to do that with their own middle infielders. Not with Soriano, not with Kinsler, and not very much at all with Profar. Certainly not with Odor. Had Profar not been tried there in the WBC the Rangers would probably not have even considered it even to the extent they did.

So that leaves Rua Choo DDJ and Profar when he returns. Looks like some decisions will have to be made. None of these can play cf. So does Hoying fit in as backup in cf?

DDJ in CF is BS. Yes he's speedy with a rag arm not to mention making mental mistakes as illustrated last night.
I would play Rua who is not so fast as DD but has a strong arm and a better head on his shoulders. Not ideal Either way but I like Ryan more.

He's not so bad where a day off for Gomez every once in a while is out of the question, doesn't matter either way, it's probably ultimately a wash
