IMHO Carrie Underwood is the greatest female vocalist since Ann Wilson who was the greatest since Janice Joplin. What say you and why?
I can only give my opinion on rock singers, so it would be Janis Joplin and Gracie Slick.
Grace Slick had a great set of pipes.
Add Ann Wilson to my list as well as Whitney Houston.
I like Amy Lee, but she doesn't make 1st team all star in my league. Mariah Carey had incredible vocal talent, but something about her doing all the trick falsetto shit takes away from her score.
Good lord, don't even bother looking at thetopten website for this subject. Katy Perry made it. Just no
I do not put much stock into ranking sites or even the professional critics. Musical taste is subjective and I like to think that I am a bit eclectic in my taste. I own some of everything from opera to bluegrass.
Janis Joplin????
That shit agonizes dogs cry two counties away.
She died from a heroin OD and for some reason people equate that to greatness.
Ann Wilson.
Gave Freddy Mercury good competition.
I'm with you. I almost completely stay away from anything mainstream. That is why sometimes I'll check out some online lists on these different subjects to see if I'm forgetting or discounting someone. If I were to make a list tho, I'd probably be with @fknhippie in that it would be pretty rock heavy
