They are getting some timely goals and stellar goaltending. They need to tighten up defensively though and cut down on the number of shots against.

Yeah....that's always the difference with teams that are successful and teams like the Oilers. When opponents make mistakes vs us, we get 3 or 4 great chances but usually come away with nothing. When teams make mistakes against the Leafs, they put them in the net. You can talk about shots all you want, if you don't score on them, its meaningless. Same with teams like the Avs and Coyotes.

Yup - You can get away with that loosey goosey style against teams like Edmonton and Calgary. Teams like Pittsburgh, Chicago, and San Jose, eh not so much.
