With the disclaimers that I left a few obvious choices out (like The Beatles, for example) to make room for others that I currently give more listen time to, and I reserve the right to change my list based on the day and my mood.

And in after someone makes a pompous "my taste in rock music is obviously more refined than yours" type of comment.

What about Little Richard who was a huge influence on bands like the Beatles and the Stones.

Chuck Berry

I can't believe I forgot Billy Joel and Elton John who are two of the greatest Rock and Roll lyrics geniuses of all time.

Wow so many so little space to put them..

Fuck it...why do we have to rank them...you can not rank brilliance and art...it is all beautiful.

I hear ya.

Personally, I tend to dig - for the most part - more technical "musicians music", but I can dig pretty much anything as long as it's not solely written as a formula for the sole sake of making money.

You guys plucked all of the obvious low-hanging fruit. In fact, any mindless fuck (who didn't know shit about music) could've just googled a list to come up with what most of you posted.

Good to see somebody finally mentioned The Ramones. It took long enough.

Three all-time great bands that you guys missed.

Hard to imagine there had been no mention of:

Sex Pistols
Iggy Pop/Stooges
Wendy O./Plasmatics

Cultural literacy is a beautiful thing.

By definition, a top 20 all time list is going to be low-hanging fruit.

You seem like an obnoxious twat? Pretty sure every post I've read of yours, is condescending in nature.

I bet you're well-loved.
