Sabremetrics loves SO stats... but ignores that there are other types of outs...

Well, the strikeout looms large in some parts of colonial America. In spots, they still haven't gotten over it.

How so?? look at how it is calculated, it is just another Stike out stat... Sabremetrics loves SO stats... but ignores that there are other types of outs...

The strikeout is the surest out. Any ball put into play can be a hit or an error. Most elite pitchers are strikeout artists, but I agree that when evaluating pitchers who aren't elite, the strikeout stats probably don't help much. Anything relating to the K is probably not a "catch-all" statistic.
