This popped up on my Facebook news feed today: Top 50 NFL Draft Busts: Where Are They Now? - Lost Lettermen

What players were among the best at your favorite college, but ended up being complete busts in the NFL? (or at least greatly underwhelmed at the next level after being drafted in the first or second round)

Trent Richardson seems to be hard at working making this list if he hasn't already.

They'll probably find that plane before anyone figures out why.

Reading the list it's almost like someone announcing the starting line ups for a Penn St vs Notre Dame game.

Tony Mandarich or Charles Rogers off the top of my head.

I thought for sure Dan Wilkinson would have made that list. # 1 overall pick back in '94 & zero Pro Bowl selections.

I think we can make a pretty good list from all of the players who's careers were ruined by the Detroit Lions.

They're both present and accounted for - Tony Mandarich and Charles Rogers. Rogers actually showed a little promise for a minute. But he preferred to stay high. Mandarich just wasn't good enough to play at that level.

Yeah, I noticed that Lions draft picks seemed to be over-represented there. They haven't been mostly bad for > 50 years by accident.

On the field reasons- Jamaal Anderson

Off the field reasons- Matt Jones (laziness, drug abuse), Darren McFadden (injuries upon injuries)

So, is "NFL bust" constrained to on-the-field-play?

Shuler should never have been drafted (I note that he lasted longer with the 'skins than did the OVT). He should never have made a pro roster. He is a fine Vol-for-Life, played well for Tennessee, but he wasn't pro material.

As for former Vols who should have made it, Travis Henry comes to mind. Yeah, he put up some serious stats during his seven years in the NFL and was selected for the 2002 Pro Bowl, but, he had problems with the NFL drug use policy and pleaded out on a drug trafficking charge, serving 3 years in prison. He also sired 11 children with 10 different women and has a history of failing to provide child support. Henry was Florida's "Mr. Football" during High School. He played on Tennessee's 1998 NC team. In terms of squandered talent and opportunity, Henry is hard to beat. "Bust" seems to fit.

Andre Bruce and I have no idea why he isn't on the list.

For the record I don't think any QB that was drafted by Cleveland should count, no one can fight the curse it just isn't fair.

For my money it would be Art Schlichter. What a total waste. So much potential.
