Question - Does Gustav Nyquist qualify?

Nope, same goes for Tatar sauce:

To be eligible for the Calder, a player cannot have played more than 25 games in any single preceding season nor in six or more games in each of any two preceding seasons in any major professional league. Beginning in 1990-91, to be eligible for this award a player must not have attained his twenty-sixth birthday by September 15th of the season in which he is eligible.

It's commonly known now as the Sergei Makarov rule (he actually won the Calder Trophy for the Flames at age 31 after playing all those years as an "amateur" for the Central Red Army).

No love for Moneyhands?

/He won't win, but I think he should crack the top 5. It's not his fault he plays for a terrible team.

Wayne Gretzky never won the Calder and turned out to have a pretty good NHL career, WW...Nyquil will be fine.

Hampas not Elias right?

Correct dash. Oversight on my part.

I think Elias will be excellent down the road bt not worthy of the Calder this year.

I was going to suggest Seth Jones and then I saw that he is a -24... He's playing big minutes and apparently being scored on a lot.

So I nominate Ryan Murray instead :)

He has no chance in hell, but he's a star in the making.

My top 3:
Mackinnon - wins it by a mile
Maata - one hell of a year
Palat

You know I think Tomas Hertl would have given Mac a run for his money if not for the knee. He was on an amazing tear to begin the season.

Can't vote yet as John Gibson is currently making his NHL debut. He may sway my vote with a strong performance tonight.

If Gibson is only meh, then I vote for Hertl. I gave him the Calder after that Rangers game in October and I can't take it back. McKinnon will have to settle for second.
