As mentioned earlier, I always looked up to Bryan Trottier; as I got older I loved the game of Doug Gilmour. I spent a lot of my teen years trying to play the same style as Dougie. How could you not love a great two-way center who only weighed 115 lbs?

I would like to say Mario Lemieux...but we are about the same age so that would be a little weird...

for me it was Jack Lambert

#9, Maurice Richard. I met him and got his autograph in 1953 when I was fourteen. The Canadiens played the Leafs the next night. It was my first NHL game. The next time that I saw him play, other than on TV, was also against the Leafs in the 3rd game of the1960 Stanley Cup Final. I saw him score, what turned out to be, the last goal of his career in that game.

I came on this and the goal is exactly as I remember it. It starts at the 1:18 mark.

Attila the hun. Sports were not invented or created when I was young.

Seriously, I would go with my cuz Pat Dobson that pitched in MLB for the Tigers and O's when they had four 20 game winners. He being one of them and had a better record than Palmer one year. RIP Pat.

Pat is your cousin? Or am I just a dumbass? Or both? Thats really cool.

My favorite is and always has been Mario Lemieux. I saw him play a handful of times in the 90's and the closest I came to meeting him was after a game he did an interview and I was like 10 ft away. thats it.

Sorry Gooch I didn't see your post untill just now. Yes he is on my dad's side. He was born and raised in Depew NY (suburban Buffalo)

He was with the O's the year they had four 20 game winners. He being one of them. In fact that is a record but I think it's been tied since then. I believe they did it in 1971 if memory serves me.

Bill Ranford. :D

Wrote him a letter when I was a kid and he left a message on my answering machine. I believe I still have it somewhere on tape. He thanked me for the letter, gave me tickets to a game that were actually his parents, but was told they never showed up much so he gives them away to eager fans. So, i got tickets and I was able to meet him afterward. I remember the camera not working though so all I have are my memories in my soft peanut sized head. :( On the plus side, we share the same birthday and we both are twins. Wonder if he would still remember me?
