How did you hear about New Glarus?

One co-worker has a couple brothers that live in the Minnesota/Wisconsin areas and another co-worker has a son that lives in Milwaukee. Whenever they go up or their family comes down they bring us some New Glarus. I have had Moon Man and Black Top (my 2 favs), as well as, Fat Squirrel and Spotted Cow (very good), Laughing Fox (decent), and Two Women. They have some very good brews, unfortunately they don't distribute outside of Wisky and their Owner/Brewer is very tight lipped about the recipes.

One of the guys brought down some beers from Milwaukee Brewing Company last trip. While they were decent beers I thought they were a little bit uninspiring. The Milk Stout was pretty good.

Too many, and too many styles to name single breweries, so I'll break them out by beer style.

Left Hand Polestar Pilsner. Unfiltered, but easily competes with the European German Pilsners.

Il Vicino Double IPA, Galaxy (You're out of luck if you don't live in NM or CO).

Young's Double Chocolate Stout (Sweet Stout).

Sierra Nevada (Pale, Celebration and Ruthless are all fucking awesome).

New Glarus. Inspired. Unpredictable. Amazing.

Some others that are flat, as far as I'm concerned: Rogue (huge diacetyl problems), Stone (too damn many IPA's; not enough variety), Oskar Blues (like Rogue, but WORSE diacetyl problem). My issue with New Belgium is that the majority of their beers taste like Fat Tire. Not EXACTLY like Fat Tire, but they mostly all share too many similar characteristics of Fat Tire. Not enough diversity in flavor for somebody that big.

1. Great Lakes -Hometown brewery, but they've put out some great beers lately, and their recent IPA release "Rye of the Tiger" is one of my favorite IPAs I've ever had.
2. Bell's - About as strong a brewery as there is. "Hopslam" is wonderful.
3. Russian River - Only had "Pliny the Elder" once, but it was great, and I really want to try "The Younger" at some point.
4. Sierra Nevada - There's never been a time when just an original Pale Ale didn't taste great.
5. Sam Adams - This was my first "craft beer" experience back when I was 19, and I didn't appreciate it until I was about 22. The Boston Ale is underrated.

Got me a sixer of Founder's Centennial IPA and a bomber of Stone's Double Bastard last night, both firsts. Needless to say, I am feeling it today. The IPA was very good and the DB was fucking awesome..a very good Imperial. Then again..it should be for $9 for a 22oz!!

1. Local Brewery that you've never heard of
2. Local Brewery you have heard of (for emphasis on how good the local stuff is)
3. Something on everyone else's list to make the first 2 seem legit
4. The company that actually makes the beer that I buy all of the time
5. Something foreign

Lagunitas (love the Little Sumpin' Sumpin')

Russian River (Pliny the Elder is amazing!)

Rogue (Dead Guy!)

Bear Republic (Racer 5)

Guinness (on tap of course)

Trying to get into the San Diego beers but haven't developed much of a taste for them yet. Gonna try some of the ones listed in this thread.
