Come and take it
I'm actually pleasantly surprised with our draft. Solid offensive lineman, and a pass rusher. Lost a pick, but maybe they can make it up later or not. Just need to keep digging for D linemen.
I read where Ealy was the 2nd RE considered by Rod (still on the board when we traded) but Rod felt it was a big gap between Lawrence & Ealy, which is why they paid so much to move up. (hoping Rod knows more than us)
That kinda makes me feel better ......... I guess
take it for what it is worth.
How do know he was the best pass rusher available? We don't know do we. What I do know is he doesn't fit as a 4-3 DE. If we still ran the 3-4 I'd have less of an issue with him, but I'd still hate the dumb ass trade we made to get him.
Don't need Cleo to see this. Simple common sense would serve YOU well.
If what you say can be attributed to Marinelli, then I feel a little better about the deal. Still tough to lose a 3rd in this draft though.
He will bring pressure from the RE and anywhere he lines up. We needed that. We needed a guy who will help will the void left by Ware. Cowboys felt he was the last one left who can bring the sack/pressure potential so they moved up to get him.
Again, I hope these were the views expressed by Marinelli - not the Jones'.
I am not against having Lawrence on the team. I like the pick. Just don't like the cost.

I don't know where he went, but think he was still there at 47 (where we were)didn't Ealy really drop after the Cowboys pick? looks like most teams didn't think he was better than Lawrence

Rod is one Hell of a coach. If Jerry wants him as his director of player personnel, he should fire the scouting department and let Rod call the shots. We got hosed on the trade. At the very least, you have to get a 4th or 5th coming back.
Another thing. Instead of TRADING UP for Devin Street, why not just take him in the 4th round. UFA Anthony Hitchens would have still been there in the 5th, and you would still have your 6th. Just giving picks away.....

I kinda tuned out after hearing we didn't have a 3rd anymore last night.
I am hearing he plays with a chip on his shoulder so hopefully he makes everyone eat crowso you gamble on that remaining true. i assume that Marinelli had a lot to say about the choice between Lawrence and Ealy and that he felt that Lawrence was a better fit and that he would gone before 47

when it is all said & done.
not arguing with anything your saying, but we didn't have a 6th to start with. thought it was already gone.
Careful now, some will label him as a "Thug"
I am cool with a thug on defense as long as he doesn't do anything to miss games.
