Year of the Gronk

Year 2014 with the Patriots Superbowl 49 win was exciting.
Now, in the off-season, we have continued to add tight ends.
Am I the only one who is thinking that the Patriots FO is recognizing that we may not be able to afford Gronkowski when his contract is ready to renew?
We are certainly gaining depth - depth that could be important if he goes down - but what if he leaves?
Just thinking ahead and recognizing the Patriots continue to look ahead......

By the time Gronk is up, Brady will be off the books. The cap is going up also. He is clearly the best TE in the game and could finish as the best TE ever. You cannot let that walk away. Jimmy will only be better with him. He is such a match-up nightmare that you can pay him a little bit more.

I love Gronk but you have to understand he will cost a lot to keep. Smart to start stacking TE's and be ready to negotiate. Don't want him to go all "fried rice" or anything.....

I think you have a few years before this becomes any kind of concern. He is signed through 2019 and those last couple of years if he keeps playing at the level he is will look like a huge discount with how much the Cap will have gone up by then so no reason to cut him. If his skills or injuries have become too much of an issue then cut him to save some decent money. Either way this contract they signed him to is a win-win for the Patriots in my opinion.

I haven't watched the show since Richard Dawson was the host, but this definitely would be must see tv.
