I'd punt on the season if I'm Atlanta now that Jones looks to be done for the year. I'd bench White, who clearly shouldn't be playing with his injury. No need to risk his future health in a throwaway year. And I'd trade Gonzalez for whatever I could get. I don't care what he says. I call him into the office and say "Tony, I know we talked you into coming back, but we suck and we're going for picks. Tell us where you'd like to go". If he doesn't want to go anywhere, then bench him too. Start making the draft board looking for linemen on both sides

And sit Ryan, too, before he gets KILLED. Like I said, he can't be accurate with 350 lb guys on his back. The only way to protect our $100 million investment is to sit his ass down on the bench. Heck, make up some stupid story about his knee or something and let the new rookie play. He needs the experience anyway. Let him get killed instead of Ryan. Hopefully he's faster and more limber of foot.

As long as our franchise player is out there taking a chance on getting killed for nothing but a piss poor season that tells me that Smith and the Falcons management are, shall we say, short on Watts in the idea bulb dept.

Furthermore, the Hawks have always sucked and so have the Braves most years. So like the guy on Page 1 said, we fans in Atlanta are used to this sort of thing, it aint nothing new at all. Atlanta sports pretty much sucks. Only the Braves have ever brought home a championship and they did it 1 time. Wow.

LOL...sad, but mostly true.

I'm not saying this as a Falcon fan, but as someone that has followed the team for the last 18 yrs of living in ATL...and for a short time back in the Glanville era.

#1...the 2012 Falcons were not nearly as good as their record last year....they won a lot of close games that could've gone either way. As I mentioned in this thread, not many big injuries, everything went right except the last 10 yds or so against SF...imo, that gave fans a false sense of how good the team was. This year...injury wise has been a 180 deg diff. from LY. Plus, Holmes was not ready to start, not sure where they saw starter material in him.

The Hawks never got out of the 2nd round, but I have to say, they had a very good team, just not enough scorers to beat the Celtics and move on in the east. The Omni used to rock FOR the Hawks when the big teams came in...but never a champion.

If these Falcons end up playing Jacksonville this year, I will root for the Jaguars. They need to win one game, anyway. Heck, it might as well be against the Falcons.

And for the OP, I got one for you.

Well, they're loaded with talent plus a top 10 qb? :noidea:

Exactly. Looks great on paper. Watch the game films and you'll clearly see that Atlanta loses games in the trenches. We've got the pretty boys in the pretty places but where we need mean tough guys to block and tackle we suck - as usual.

Spot on...Reynolds looks like a player, but the OL never recover from losing Clabo & Dahl on that right side. On the other side, forget about DE...Babs and Peters are both decent players, but they're tweeners, not legit DTs. Dimitroff is trying to run a Porsche on Kmart tires.

Yep. I know if I were Arthur Blank I'd want to get some HUGE TALENTED guys to protect my $106 million investment. I'm surprised Ryan hasn't gotten seriously injured the way these guys are playing. Ryan takes way too many big hits each game. I guess his strength and conditioning must be superb.
