Would you like to play your biggest rival 2 times in the same year?

Our true rivals are in our division so it's not really possible.

I can say most UW fans really really REALLY wanted a second shot at USC last year after losing to them, but had we beaten them in that first meeting we likely wouldn't have been as interested in the rematch. So it's very situational.
Nah, I was happy with Colorado.

Our biggest conference rival, FSU, is in the same division, but if they were in the other division and the possibility was there, I'd say NO.

Now, if we're talking about Sakerlina, HELL YEA!! I'd play a schedule full of games with those dirtpeckers.

Clemson is scared to play tough teams.

Saban is scared of Jimmy Jam. Fact.

Can't blame him, we've all seen the pictures of him without a shirt. Shit is scary.

I wouldn't want to play back-to-back games against our rivals. That would suck. But if it was someone we played early on or mid-season & we met again in a CCG or the playoffs, I could live with that.

Simple answer is no, primarily because the team that loses the first game has an advantage IMHO. Every year here is a chance in the SEC though and for divisional champs I have little heartburn over it.

There is a possibility that two rivaled schools can meet each other twice overall. That has happened in 2011 between Alabama and LSU, LSU beat Bama 9-6 in OT in a boring defensive game. Then they met again in the National Championship game when Bama shut'em out 21-0. There's a chance two teams from the same conference, especially their division, that those teams can wound up in the College Football Playoff, as long as they have zero or a single loss. It can happen.

Didn't the ACC mention going to a format where their CCG included the highest ranked teams in the conference rather than division winners Or am I misremembering?

I THINK this was when FSU had lost to Louisville, Louisville had lost to Clemson and FSU-Clemson had yet to play. So in theory, if FSU had beaten Clemson it would have been a 3 way tie at the top. Then FSU lost to UNC anyway so it wouldn't have mattered.

If I recall correctly, that's when the discussion of how the tie was broken was brought up.

The answer is no under most circumstances; especially if you won the first meeting. With that said, I would have loved a shot in 2006 in a neutral field for a national title.

Even after it was proven that neither Ohio State or Michigan had any business near that National Title game?

How about Alabama facing Georgia just once in a season? That possible or is it still a once in a decade thing?

Get rid of divisions and I'm all for CCG rematches between the two best teams in the conference.

However... perennial top teams should schedule premiere out-of-conference games each Thanksgiving week in order to reduce the chances of the two best teams in the conference playing each other back-to-back weeks.

Iowa State is Iowa's biggest rival. This is a unique rivalry. It is the only one that has all 3 of these.

(1) Exactly 2 FBS programs in the state - Only 2 FCS programs and no mid majors.
(2) In different P5 conferences - Not only is it Iowa vs Iowa State, it is B1G vs Big 12.
(3) No NFL team in the state - Basically, any football fan in Iowa is a fan of one of the two.

In football, no. Once is enough. In basketball, absolutely.
