Who ya got?

Ill start with the canes.

Last season seemed like things might be changing as the canes won their last game for the first time in 6 years. This season, however, back to the same old. One finale win in the last 7 seasons.

This season ending futility started way back in 05, and doesnt seem to be going away.

05: lost 2 of the final 3

06: lost 4 of the final 6, one to a 5-7 team.

07: closed out season going 0-4, losing to a 5-7 team.

08: finish up with a 0-3 streak, with another losing record team happy they scheduled the canes late.

09: 2-2 in last four. Turnaround?

10: 0-3 and tossing 4 of the last 6 with one going to a 4-8 team.

11: drop 3 of the last 5. One to 4-8 team

12: losing only 1 of 3 a vast improvement, until you see 3-4 in final 7 with a loss to a 4-8 team.

13: from #7 to closing with 4 losses in the final 6.....all blowouts.

But, along with the same old 1st grade level tackling we've been achieving over the same period, nobody seem concerned with fixing it. After seeing the canes look like they had no clue that louisville even had a football team, Im pretty sure nothing changing soon.

I know this is a college football forum, but the Detroit Lions are so bad that it falls into this category.

2013 2-6 (win three games and they make the playoffs)
2012 0-8
2011 4-4 (get blown out in their playoff game)
2010 4-4
2009 1-7
2008 0-8 (Finishing off a 0-16 season)
2007 1-7 (when they were a front runner to make the playoffs)
2006 1-7
2005 2-6
2004 2-6

And I can keep going.

Not a good sign. Many teams don't play any tough competition until midway through schedule. I'm not familiar with Miami's scheduling so you'll know but a typical SEC team will play some weak OOC teams and possibly the weaker conference teams at first. They then finish with tough stretch. When Alabama was on sanctions (can relate) they would go 5-1 or 6-0 or even better but then finish with Tennessee(when they were good), LSU, Miss. St, Auburn, and maybe a good east division team and finish poorly. You really need to look at the schedule close and figure out if they are finishing weak or really wasn't as good to begin with?

Now that the Canes aren't the thug team I watched in the 80's I kind of pull for them to come back. I hope they will turn it around but being hit with sanctions as many times as they have recently is going to make it real tough! Good luck! :suds:

ASU historically struggles in November. We lose the heat advantage at home and Arizona kids don't like traveling to cold weather stadiums. This year we went undefeated in November though, and finished the regular season on a 7 game winning streak but then got manhandled by Stanford and never showed up to the Holiday Bowl.

If you wanna go back in time a bit, John Cooper in the 90s was the worst closer in the history of CFB. We always lost the last two games every year... Michigan would beat us and then we'd lose our bowl game.

I don't want to say worst team but rather worst secondary and special teams. The University of Georgia.
giving up long plays to Nebraska and the fluke to Auburn. Getting called for targeting in the Vandy game which gave them a 1st down near the goal line. and don't get me started on the special teams play.

Stanford has beat Oregon 4 times total this century.... Oregon 9-4 vs Stanford

2 of which kept Oregon out of a NATTY bid. Another one out of the Rose Bowl

The lil ol Ducks would have 3 NATTY appearances if it werent for the nerds....

Losing in the NCG is not finishing poorly, at least they made it there.

calling bullshit on this one. Look at who Bama played towards the end this year, Ga. State and Chattanooga...and they ain't the only SEC team to schedule FCS schools the 2nd or 3rd last game of the season.

Canes usually play tough games early: uf, oklahoma, osu, k state, fsu to name a few recent ones.

They just fold down the stretch. And, just off the top of my head Ithink they have finished the last 4 seasons with a gimpy qb. I think ccoincidence is out the window. Methinks either there is a major conditioning program issue, or shalala is a high voodoo priestess that hates um football. Well, the latter is a proven fact.
