Teams that spend more tend to do better than teams that don't spend at all. Groundbreaking analysis.

and the luxury tax is worthless

and some owners can't control their (egos) spending addiction (like teenagers with their first credit card)
and all MLB teams don't have an equal competitive chance

and the lesser, poor MLB teams are a minor league system, supplying great players to the rich teams

The rich inmates are running the asylum

and who pays for it?

fans sponsor this so called sport.

and the over payed players are wrecking a sport

Get rid of half of the MLB teams, and go to a 100 mil rigid salary cap.

that about says it.

That's intelligent
I agree 100%.

He doesn’t go far enough. I think that teams should stop charging admission and the food/drinks from the concession stands should be free. And the players should all play for free (it is a game, after all!). Maybe some of the TOP players can be paid with gift cards to local grocery stores, but that should still be limited.

Max Scherzer only made $43,333,000 last season

$290,000 per inning pitched............

that's roughly about $19,000 a pitch

I realize Max is hurting for money with inflation and everything.
It's a tough life. Maybe Max should ask Met's fans to take up a collection for him.

average income in the U.S is about $37,000 (that's about 2 pitches thrown by Max)

When you do something better than any of the other 8 billion people on Earth and people pay to watch you do it, you get paid a LOT

A game that millions pay billions to watch. What do you have against capitalism?

just getting a piece of the pie or do u think prices would go down if they got paid less:suds:

How much money did MLB make in 2022?

$11 billion

After Game 3 of the 2022 World Series was rained out, commissioner Rob Manfred met with the media and as part of it said that league gross revenues would be just shy of $11 billion

Seriously…

Are you just bitching for the hell of it, or do you propose some kind of solution? Because just sitting there eating Bon-Bons while pointing out perceived imperfections in the world without proposing some kind of solution is kinda pointless, don’t you think?

I didn't actually listen because I hate the voices of anyone on NPR but they are saying studies have shown sports ticket prices are going down.
