Just saw this in passing on ESPN...

Tigers moved up from 7-1 to win the WS to the odds leader at 4-1 after getting Fielder.

Next 4:

Angels 5-1
Phillies 11-2
Red Sox 6-1

So far so good, no quibbles from me.

Tied with the Bosox at 6-1....wait for it....the Cubs. Yes, the CUBS.

What. The. Hell? Someone help me out here...

Where are the Yankees? They are the best team IMO.

And ESPN just keeps sucking Boston's cock with Theo at the helm now in ChiTown.

Well presumably they got the odds from a Vegas book, they didn't make them up themselves.

But yeah, the Yankees have to be in there too. Maybe a nice bet to be made if the Yanks are at 7-1 or something.

Absolutely. Unfortunately, upon victory, you're forced to give up your soul. ;)

Nah, just make another bet on the Giants at 12-1 or whatever and your (sports) soul is intact!

:tm:

(I put him there because he looks kinda like a bookie)

Nothing about the two time AL champion Rangers who upgraded their biggest need in starting pitching?

Any mention about how many bunt singles the Tigers will give up this year with their corner infielders being Fielder and Cabrera?

Maybe 3. They play in the AL. I can think of maybe 5 guys that bunt well, and possibly two that like it (Ellsbury, who is more valuable swinging away, and Omar Vizquel, who likely can't beat out the throw anymore, anyway).

Agreed on the Rangers. This is the most talent the AL has had since '08. It should be a fun All-Star game and Series (so what else is new? ;)).

I hear ya brother, but I'm just relating what they showed on the TV...and I presume if you go to any Vegas book you can see for yourself.

For example, here: 2012 World Series Odds | Vegas Favorites To Win 2012 World Series

It looks pretty different. Don't know the timing of these but they have the Phillies as favorites at 11-2, then the Yankees and Angels tied at 13-2, then the Rangers and Tigers at 9-1, the Red Sox at 10-1, Marlins at 15-1, and in 8th: the Giants at 16-1.

That seems a lot more correct than what the Disney dumdums showed.

Braves and DBacks are at 20-1. It's just one site but nice to see us 3rd 'best' in the NL, and best in the NL West.

Texas alone has 3 that bunt well. Elvis, Ian, and Gentry all are fast and can lay down a bunt. And I'm sure that parks with grass will be leaving the infield a little taller when DET rolls into town :)

Oh yeah, I wasn't trying to shoot the messenger. Just making conversation while counting down the days until pitchers and catchers report. Under a month now!

I don't think Wash wants Ian Kinsler to bunt very often. Elvis was included in the 5 off the top of my head, but they'll play corners in on him. No knowledge of Gentry, but I still contest that AL teams don't bunt (sadly, neither do the Giants). Verlander might have to deal with some bunting, but on the whole, I'd likely take the under on any bunt single speculation, even with a couple of fatties at the corners. Plus, they are fatties in their late 20s. It helps.
