How about cespedes or conforto not making that catch in the 1st inning and turning an out into an itpHR....or familia giving up a tying HR in the 9th.....or cuddyer basically becoming the designated whiffer.....

I'm sure any of them would take responsibility for this loss. It wasn't all because of Wright's error in the 14th...though he being the captain would say it was.

This may be a huge reach, but after Hero Hosmer's at-bat, I had the same drained feeling I had after watching the 1981 San Diego-Miami OT NFL playoff game. Both contests had numerous moments where it appeared that the end was imminent, and then it just ... kept ... going. Riveting, from start to finish.

The Mets outplayed the royals last night and gave one away.

So they still need to do that 4 more times without the whole grasping defeat from the jaws of victory thing.

Not to mention their bullpen will not be this good the rest of the series and will likely blow at least one game.

So they really need to win probably 4 out of 5 games.

This was a devastating blow to the Mets chances.

Well, the Royals can defend and have a functioning relief corps, and though I'm not Yost's biggest fan he sure as shit beats the hell out of John Gibbons, but yeah pretty much.
