without Texas A&M is Big12 AQ anymore?

Without the Aggies doesn't that make the Big12 non-AQ conference now? I thought you need at least 10 teams to be AQ. Also what if Big12 just starts adding teams with no quality to them such as SMU or other very mid major programs? They remain AQ because they have the necessary # of teams? If that is the case why not force everyone else out that is of competition and fill the rest of the conference up with teams like Rice, Tulsa, Tulane, etc.

The Big East is only 7 teams, they are still AQ.

They have lost the #2, #4 and #5 best football programs historically in the original Big12. Missouri is #6 program all-time and they are teetering on leaving as well. The good news is that it is still one heck of a basketball conference.
