Seriously what does my state need to do to get a Hockey team? They would have no problem selling out and Wisconsin always has some of the best ratings for NHL games and Olympic games so what is the hang up? If anyone knows please fill be in because I've wondered what the problem is forever.

There is no new audience to be had there. I agree with you 100% and believe they should absolutely get a team.

Well its not like teams are being handed out all over the county. Its been more than 10 years since any city/state has been given a team. As far as I know the NHL has no serious plans to expand anytime soon and they certainly aren't looking to relocate anyone. But if a team does become available one way or another, I wouldn't mind Wisconsin getting a team at all.

You sure about that? I'd think an NHL team would attract new fans in the state. Northern states like Wisconsin are the perfect place to put new teams in my opinion. It already has a good base but still opportunity to grow. It gives the NHL the best of both worlds.

Wisconsin is already a hockey state without having an NHL team. There is already a good amount of hockey fans in Wisconsin that will tune into games regardless of weather or not they have an NHL team as opposed to non-hockey markets where new viewers can be found. This is not my reasoning, this is the NHL's reasoning.

It just pisses me off is all. We are without a doubt one of the biggest hockey states in the country yet southern states get teams. It just drives me nuts.

I think they should rethink that. I rarely watch hockey at all right now unless it's the Badgers or Olympics. If there was a Madison, Green Bay or Milwaukee NHL team I would watch all the time and actually follow the NHL. I have A LOT of friends that feel the exact same way that I do. I guess to me it doesn't make sense because by this logic then why did Minnesota get another hockey team after the stars left considering they would have already had said fan base.

welcome combatsports, good to see you make a jump from the disney boards.
Wisconsin has a great college team and I am sure also has great youth development leagues so I have no idea why they don't have a team except that it makes too much sense so Bettman would never come to that idea.

With the success/popularity of the Winter Classics, I think the NHL would be extremely foolish not to consider putting a team (if 1 or more become available) in Wisconsin. A winter classic at Lambeau Field would be epic. And I don't think the team would necessarily have to be based in Green Bay for that to work.

is there corporate $$$$ in Wisconsin? (not being a dick, I honestly don't know)
fan support isn't enough to run a profitable NHL team anymore.

Should have seen the fans this year for the Bucks then. ESPN commented on it a couple of times because they couldn't believe how into it the fans were. If we are down in basketball the fans won't be there because we definitely aren't a baskteball state (aside from the Badgers and Marquette), but we have definitely proven time and time again that we can sell out any sport with even just a decent team. I get what you're saying though.

You mean like sponsors? If that's what you mean then yes. Beer companies in the state of Wisconsin alone would be enough to support a hockey team.

NFL teams are at a profit before they sell their first ticket, from TV revenue alone
MLB has 162 games, and an average of about 35,000 fans per game
NBA - i have no idea, and don't really care to research it.
