Looks like they just wanted to start fresh and cut all ties to the Atlanta franchise. I liked Craig Ramsay as a player, and I think he is a good coach. It's a tough business at times.

The pressure is definitely on then. If they come up with a record worse than last year, there are no excuses. They have a solid goaltender, a lot of potential at defense and young forwards. All the pieces needed to make the jump to playoff contention.

I'm interested to see if any high-profile free agents will sign there. One of the big reasons (so I've read) that Winnipeg isn't a great place for a team is that it isn't as sexy a location as some of the other franchises enjoy.

Kypreos said last night on Sportsnet that it was going to be Winnipeg Jets (exact words were he "got the impression it was going to be Winnipeg Jets")

He has gotten alot of them correct lately ... he had Bryz signing dollar amount ... flyers added the final 2 years

What does it say when Kypreos has more on the ball than Dreger? Better insider information?

no doubt climate will be a tough draw but i think when guys get there theyre gonna enjoy being the toast of the town in a hockey market ... hard working 4th liners are gonna be rock(er?) stars (ie Jimmy Roy)

I think Kypreos has the ear of players while Dreger has the ear of managers ... apparently the players knew

Kypreos is a former NHL player, so no doubt he does have better connections inside the league.

while i think its great that the use of manitoba makes the team inclusive for the entire province ... I dont think the NHL wants this

I forget who it was ... might have been Mike Russo (of all people considering the team he covers is similar geographically to manitoba) who said the place name Manitoba conjures up images of back bacon for many americans

i dont hate on Dreger as much as you but I will tell you that my respect for him has dropped considerably in the last while with his actions of late.
