I like Meech. I think a bad team is going to scoop him off waivers, give him some power play time and 20 minutes a night, and the kid's confidence will soar. He's never going to be the greatest defenseman, but a top four guy who can help out a team's power play is a reasonable ceiling for him.

I just hate the way he is kept around with the excuse that he can play D and forward. If a player is gonna do that in the NHL, they need to stand out in one of those positions, imo.

And, imo, forward is where he excels more

You are both probably right. But he won't play forward anywhere else, imo. Who ever gets him will hope he becomes a gifted offensive defensemen / Detroit cast-off.

Having said that, just for me, he will rattle off 80 points, come in 2nd in the Norris voting, and make the all star team. Fuck it. I want the Cup.
