Good game. We started slow again but picked it up by the end of the second and carried the pressure into the 3rd... unlike on friday.

Stuart and Kronner have been off their game it seems... usually they are solid D, but they have been turning it over a lot lately in our own zone.

season started time to make an appearance

thoughts

1. I made it through the forsberg ceremony...I had to tear up a bit at the belak/skrastins/salei tribute, that had to be extremely painful for varlamov (who may have been on that jet if it weren't for the trade)
2. speaking of the trade, I don't care what we paid for varlamov, if he consistently plays like that it was worth it, it's nice to have a goalie again, we haven't had that since Roy, save for above average goaltending frmo anderson before he turned whiny. He didn't have a chance on either shot, and still made quite a few great save
3. the avs biggest need right now is somebody to play on stastny's left, kobasew isn't the answer, landeskog is too good with O'Reilly, and I don't think lindstrom is the answer right now
4. the defense was worlds better than last year, and EJ was having an off game...worlds I think I forgot what actually playing defense was, that said Ryan Wilson was terrible tonight
5. the best line tonight for the avs was Landeskog-O'Reilly-Winnik, by a large margin, I already talked about stastny's line and Duchene had a pretty bad game tonight, meuller was better defensively and worse offensively than I remembered
6. The top 6 were all rusty, but if this team had any finish the avs would have had a 3-0 lead after 1 (Duchene's never been able to hit the net), I think they realized that and franzen's goal kinda took it out of them completely
7. Datsyuk's fucking good (yes, I had to state the obvious)

I agree that Varlamov is the best goalie you've had in awhile. The whole team has a different feel to it. Great speed and the 2nd youngest team in the league. They will compete more than predicted this year.

Man watching that Varlamov kid was awesome, Falconski is 100% right, they need another winger who can play with Stastny, the Av's looked lost at times but looked a whole lot better than last year, not quite ready to push the elite teams but may have a legit shot at an 8 seed if and I say if Varly can perform like that all year. Oh and that Landescog kid is fast!

This is all true, IF he can stay healthy which I will continue to doubt he can until he does it. He is just too quick for his own groins.
