Disgusting & Redundant. There's our "big bat". Watch them trade Franklin for Peanuts now.

Pretty sure they're signing him as a utility infielder, which is actually pretty good. In his last 2 years of utility play, he's hit as well as just about any Mariner for average. Plus, he's an excellent guy for the young kids in the infield to learn from.

As a utility guy, I think this is actually a good signing.

However, if the FO tries to paint this as one of the "big" moves when all is said and done, then yeah, that would be truly awful.

We are in 100% agreement once again. I think the exact same thing. He is who he is and he fits his part perfectly. To me it s no different than signing Raul last year as the LH DH bat. It wasn't his fault he became their best hitter by default and were forced to play him the whole year.

Speaking of Ryan... I saw a few days ago that the Yankees signed him to a multi-year deal.

ehh, not too sure about that. They're both bad hitters (though Ryan is worse), but at least Ryan can play excellent defense at SS. Bloomquist isn't even a good defender.

Bloomquist is a career .271 hitter compared to Ryans .237. Wouldn't say Bloomquist is a "bad" hitter.

With Bloomquist you get decent everything not great. With Ryan you get Great D and complete dogshit at the plate. Take your pick

Though not a gold glover Bloomquist is the best defensive player at every single position he would play on this team except Saunders and if Ryan is back. A guy like him that can play 6 positions, can steal and doesn't completely embarass himself is a positive.

There's our big signing for the year, Bloomquist, can't wait to hear all the excuses from the front office why we didn't sign anyone. So disappointing
