RG III would be a good fit in Chicago.
No...
No, he would not.

But thats the thing, nobody is expecting to get a Mariani or Winston to take over day 1. You still need to spend a relatively high pick to get a QB to train. Some of us were looking at Hundley last year, the Packers took him. You know he is not replacing Rodgers any time soon, but they will prep him to step in when needed, then deal him if he is not, like they dealt flynn.
They took him in the 5th round... I mean, come on. Rodgers will be 32 when 2016 starts. He will be playing quite a few years into the 2020's. Hundley's only shot of playing for any extended period of time as the Packers QB is if Rodgers goes down with a big injury.
You're acting like they took him as a potential future replacement for Rodgers, which could not be farther from the truth. He is no different than what we have in Fales. A guy who is likely to wind up a nothing. A young guy who was intriguing to the group that drafted him, yet unlikely to ever be a big time QB. Sure, there's the Tom Brady's and Tony Romo's of the world. However, for every one of those 5th, 6th, 7th round or undrafted guys who made it. There are 200 that never played more than a handful of meaningful downs.
The Pack didn't trade Flynn.
Smoking the Lions collective dicks in one game earned him a crazy deal. He left via FAgency. The Seahawks traded him to Oakland.
Just a random thought I figured I'd mention about Jay.
It's kind of funny how Cutler earned such a rep for throwing so many INT's just based off of that one 2009 season, and then a string of games last year.
You hear pundits CONSTANTLY make cracks about Cutler; "Well... we all know, if you just be patient. He's going to throw a couple to you. It's inevitable." When he actually has the longest active streak of going without having a multiple INT game in the NFL currently. He also is tied for 5th in the NFL for fewest interceptions.
Hell, even a Lions fan in the thread joking about how he wants Cutler to stay in the division. Presumably because "Cutler helps the Lions". Meanwhile, Stafford has thrown more INT's than Cutler in 4 of the last 5 seasons. Nothing against the Lions fan posting here, BTW.
Just an observation worth mentioning. The guy really does catch so much shit. For some reason Lions fans love talking a lot about Cutler, more than any other fan base too. Funny to me, I don't see where the hell Stafford has had some kind of great success that has turned Jay into a punching bag for them. The two have kind of had very similar careers to this point. Similar numbers, wins, etc... Hell, Cutler even has a playoff win. Although, Stafford obviously being a couple of years younger.
Lets not mention the time he missed........
Your right Rich. I have a more aggressive nature so he does not fit my personal taste but that hardly means he is wrong or not doing a good job. But I'll tell ya, when it's second and one this guys runs up the middle, it kills me. If you watch how defenses line up against us you would think Hester and Knox were still our WRs.Well, Noon... I've enjoyed your postings since the mid-2000's. However, I do have to say that the entire NFL's respect, along with Peyton Manning, Jay Cutler, etc... does go a bit farther than yours.
Just saying. These will likely be the best numbers Cutler has posted here, and he did so playing most of the year with nobody out there catching balls for him. Along with an, at best, middling O-line. If Trestman, Martz, Turner, etc... are out there calling plays. This season could easily have been a complete and total nightmare.
Why do you hate us? or do you think he could make a good return man?RG III would be a good fit in Chicago.

Ok, I guess you were not joking. The fact someone was dumb enough to waste a high first rd pick on him is no reason for us to make a mistake. He is very talented but he will never be a NFL QB. His game does not translate to NFL football. No running QB under 260 lbs can stay healthy in this league. We need a QB that can play 16 games a year. R Wilson runs I know but he does not take hits. Cam runs but he is big enough to take the beating. RG3 is too small to play his style in this league. He's talented and a recent #1 draft pick.
What did I tell you about facts Cali?Mostly I am staying out of this discussion (my Christmas present to the board...YOU'RE WELCOME!), but this I cannot let go by.
Jay Cutler has one of the highest int rates in the league among active QBs:

He also is one of the highest fumblers of QBs, and when you consider age, this isn't pretty:

In total, he has been a turnover machine:
Rodgers, Ryan, Brady Best Ever Protecting The Football
This season, his relatively turnover-improved year (which tells you how badly we have been conditioned by him) he is better but not great (10th place) in interception rate and is tied for 2nd with 5 fumbles lost behind leaders Mariota and McCown who have 6.
Jay Cutler, for most of his career, is a turnover machine. If you want to argue other aspects of Cutler's game, by all means, please do, but the argument that Cutler gets a bad rap for his interceptions is patently crazy.
Anyway, happy holidays everyone.
