Don't crucify me for this post but what about Skins offering the Jets our 1st round pick for Muhammad Wilkerson? We don't have Pot Roast anymore and we are probably taking a DT in either the 1st or 2nd round so why risk drafting a player who "might" pan out when you can have a proven star in Wilkerson is my thought.

Opinions?

No. Way. Scot is almost certainly looking to trade down and get more picks. With those picks, we can choose from the verdant garden of plenty in one of the richest d-line drafts in years. In addition, what about Mo's contract? He's got the tag on him right now, and we'd have to re-do his contract. That would cost us a lot of cap space we need to keep for next season when we need to (re-)sign people like Cuz, Reed, Galette and others.

Simply put: no.

GMSM might trade down for more picks.

Think of the money side too..

Wilkerson's deal would hit 100% on their cap, so 15.7 mil. Skins have about 11 mil in cap space currently. Figure you save 1.8 or so mil in rookie compensation on that 1st round pick you give up. So need about 4 mil to sign your rookies, so this is 19.7 mil in cap space, meaning you need to clear at least 9 mil (closer to 12 to have enough for IR replacements in season or late signings for needs). Even if they are able to work a new deal with Wilkerson and backload it with lots of later guaranteed money on a multi-year deal, I don't see that deal going under 10 mil in cap hit in year 1.

Plus big name DT aquisitions in Washington aren't know for being the best (Haynesworth, Stubblefield) :D

So talking releases/trades for picks, Garcon, Jackson, Culliver would be your clear options to free cap space, or finding re-doing a lot of deals and such.

Just an outsiders thought, but while it may have upside, it would be giving up a lot in cap flexibility and draft pick.
