Why doesn't Peyton throw tight spirals?

I respect Peyton very much and his throws most of the time hit receivers in stride, but why do his passes wobble so much? Is it easier to catch wobbly passes or bullets?

Peyton's success doesn't come from tight spirals... it comes from timing and accuracy. Even if the ball wobbles.. as long as it is in the right spot at the right time.. and it appears he has figured it out. He often puts the balls in places where only his receivers can make the catch.

Peyton's weakness is on long balls... that wobble tends to hold the ball up and change the path... which is probably why we don't see many long balls from him. Even the other night, he had a couple of semi-deep balls down the sidelines that fluttered.. but hit their target.

Timing is where you just watch Peyton and shake you head... he is amazing. And his work on that with his receivers is relentless.

Lets be honest, if Peyton had the work ethic of so many other QB's in the league, I am not sure he would be that great....

It wobbles but during the first 3 games they have been right on the mark.

During the 2012 preseason, when PMFM was first coming back from over a year long layoff, there was a lot being said and written about his wobbly passes. The Denver Post reported an incident at a Broncos practice where a group of reporters was standing too close to where PMFM was throwing to his receivers, so he quipped to them, "Stand back, fellas. Those wobbly passes hurt just as much as spirals when they hit you in the head".

60,000 yards later I think it's safe to say that there's no problem with the way Peyton Manning throws a football.

Peyton Manning throws wobbly passes. Philip Rivers has a funky throwing motion. They are #1 and 2 in TD passes and QBR right now.

So in summary, it doesn't matter.

It's because his alien hands sometimes gave difficulty feeling the laces through his human suit.

Rivers deserves no such comparison.

What is up with all these Peyton threads. Even the fans are scared of his greatness. The guy puts it on the money 99% of the time, who cares!

Dude is cool, but I do feel vindicated in that it is pretty obvious that it was the evil fans of the evil Patriots causing most of the problems on ESPN. They just need to do whatever light side Jedi were supposed to do to get out of the Dark Side and avoid Emperor Belichick's control.
