why doesnt a major conference play on friday nights?

whats the difference between a late night college bball game on a Friday or a saturday? espn pumps in big matchups nearly every Saturday night at 8 central time

I think it has to do with CFB carving out a viewership for sports on Saturdays. And given the fact that they start with some good games during the day on Saturday (also like CFB) then they can keep the fans interested for the later games.

It's a good question, IDK, just my guess.

The NCAA back in the day, did not want conflicts with high school games so they asked all colleges to observe Fridays specifically for just high school athletics. That's why there isn't any football games usually scheduled on Friday nights. But since the growth and demand of ESPN along with college athletics to be televised almost every day of the week, Friday nights are the last of the holdouts.

that makes sense. now college athletics is all about money. Im shocked the American or big east doesnt take games to Friday nights. they get overlooked on saturdays
