I don't see Kimmo leaving. Coburn might be the dman the Flyers would have to use as a bargaining chip. Can't trade Mez since he's made of glass.

Does Coburn fetch what's needed though? I honestly don't know, I was just thinking out loud with Kimmo.

Nope, I don't think so...at least not just him alone. I just want the Flyers to be patient. Now's the time to sell, not buy. I don't know if Snider/Homer know how to do that though.

I think that this is the time to buy for picks. Once the lottery is done, a lot of value goes on the top 5. Yes, it's a risk, but worst case scenario is having two mid-first rounders against possibly having two top-5s.

Welllll...maybe in other draft years, this year? I mean, Boston seems pretty desperate to make a move...go there.

I can see Boston going after Briere to be honest. The only question is how bad is Briere's concussion and how long will he be out for? We may be stuck with this shit contract.

Yeah, we'll have to wait until we hear more. If the concussion is real bad then he goes on LTIR forever like Pronger. If not then I'm thinking he either gets traded or bought out in the off season.

Id trade both Timmo and Coburn.
Free up the money for the offseason

i wouldn't.. gotta replace those guys if you move them.. best options on the FA market are probably streit and whitney who are 35 and 30 respectively, likely to warrant 5+ mil in cap hit, and are likely to be resigned before UFA day anyway

trading them sounds good in theory, especially if you want more 1st rounders.. but you still have to replace them, and i dont think gustafsson and manning even remotely replace timonen and coburn

It's pretty sad when it's the 38 year old dman is the best dman on your team. No disrespect to Timmo. The guy gives it his all every game. Furthermore he is playing injured on a nightly basis. My frustrations with the Flyers organization is that they simply neglect the dman and goaltending position. They just think they will just simply make a trade and that will do the trick. Sometimes that works but as of now we are in a shitty position. I was unhappy drafting Laughton when we desperately need a dman. I'm sure Laughton will be a solid NHLer at some point. This upcoming draft had better be focused soley on dmen. Just my two cents.

I actually disagree. There are some nasty forwards in this draft. Best available. They can trade guys later if need be.

he sure as shit better be.. laughton, cousins, stolarz and gostisbehere make up the entire potential difference maker prospect pool for the flyers.. and by potential difference maker i mean two quality 3rd liners, a potential NHL goalie, and all my hopes and dreams

i'm all for taking the best available, but they need to focus on dmen.. i'd say past the 1st pick where some of those elite forwards might be available, they need to pick dmen and hope one of them pans out.. even fringe 3/4 dmen get locked up in big contracts before hitting free agency these days

Forgive me awaz. I'm still in denial that we are this bad. I've been a downer on this team for several weeks now. I'm concerned with the health of our current roster and the lack of talented dmen for our future.

I dunno if we get a top 3 pick and Seth Jones is already gone then I am taking best available. That's just me. I know we need D and badly but some of these forwards are gonna be gooooooood.

oh ya, that's what i'm saying.. outside of the first pick where it's pretty likely that they'll be 2-3 elite forward prospects available that are better than the next dman on the board, they need to take dmen..

what will piss me off more than anything though, is if they draft another grinding forward or bruising dman because he 'plays flyer hockey'.. you know what has no value outside the flyers organization? 'flyer hockey'.. it basically means when given the chance to poke check the puck away and start a fast break the other way, you'd rather put the guy in to the third row and let the puck go by you. it basically means, hitting is your best attribute and your true difference making ability leaves something to be desired.

flashy offensive skill and quick, puck moving dmen is what is valuable in this league. if you're afraid to take dmen because you suck at it, take a flashy forward, not one that can play a good defensive game and hit people.

heh, it's a little bleak right now.. no question.. there really isn't a lot the flyers can do to improve because they have very little in terms of non-nhl value

on the bright side, the nhl team is loaded with potential, they're just not playing up to it this year.

essentially, yes haha.. but jvr was supposed to be a 'flyers hockey' type guy too.. for all the pissing and moaning going on about missing out on kane, the flyers were going to draft JvR regardless.. kane/jvr/turris were the top 3 and on a pretty even level that year.. the flyers were always going to draft the guy who was supposed to have a physical side
