:agree: Although Seattle has looked ALMOST unbeatable. Hopefully that cockiness catches up to them and they think they will just ride through the playoffs to the SB by HFA alone.

Kaepernick in Seattle = the proverbial deer in headlights.

How ignorant can some people be? Seattle destroys the Saints and now people are saying they peaked to soon but if the Seeahawks lost people would be bashing them for losing at home and would say see they can be beat at home. Which one is it?

Prove to me, the OP, that I would have said this.

Peaking too soon is a misnomer IMO. The reason that alot of wild card teams make deep runs is because they start playing meaningful games much earlier than elite teams. When you have to win your last 2/3/4 games to even get into the playoffs it battle tests you, whereas teams that perform early typically take the end of the season to rest starters ( a HUGE mistake IMO). Then you add in WC weekend and some teams havent played a truly meaningful game in 4 or 5 weeks by the time they play their first playoff game. In essence "peaking too early" simply means not playing real intense games until ( often ) its too late.

for all we know, the super bowl could be the eagles vs. colts. that would blow everyone's minds.

It's the way it is with the Hawks, Malibu. It's like the book who moved the cheese.

First its, the Hawks can't win on the road. So we go 5-1 on the road. Then it's, well you got
lucky because we didn't win by enough but made plays when we had to for the W.

When we win at home, it's rarely good enough. "TB almost beat you." Fine, we turned the
ball over 3 times, spotted them 21 and then came back to win. Nobody wins or covers the
spread every week. Op fans expect us to win everygame by double digits or we were lucky.

Then it's, you win because everyone is on PED's. Then we moved a majority, i.e.Moffitt to the
Broncos, and only have Browner, who is out. I'm sure Sherman took something but he was
re-tested. Sherman is successful because he's like Gumby. He flips his hips as well as any
CB I've ever seen, has the long arms and ballHAWKing skills. Fans act like our team is poppin'
needles in their rear before everygame.

Now, it's we've peaked too early when this is the only dominant game we've played all year.

Then the 12th man is fraudulent. We pump sound and it's due to the architecture. Arc, sure.

As fanaticals, we're not allowed to be excited and share it because we've never won a SB. :wtf2:

At some point, it's really not a big deal. Everyone seems to want to be a buzzkill. This is the
best team in our 37 year history and we have some excitement. Instead of going wow, the Hawks have a pretty good squad, it's let's pile on and be jackhoffs.

It is what it is.... :yahoo:

ET, Sherm, and Russell have echoed that the team will be great once they get their game down.
They say the have plenty of room to improve and work on it intensely.
That's some scary stuff to the bad guys out there.:fear:

Interesting point. I definitely think that there is merit to your idea that successfully fighting off elimination is good preparation for again fighting off elimination.

Question?

What qualifies as getting/got hot? Do you have to win 4 of 5 heading into the playoffs? 3 straight?

I don't buy the lose 2 of 3 or 3 of 5 but win the wildcard game and suddenly you're hot.

Seems pretty arbitrary. What is it?

Good question...not any different from the reg. season imo...3 straight is a streak...closing out the regular season with 3 in a row is hot.

I can't go with any team that has Andy Dalton under center. He's way too jekyll and hyde to count on winning 3 games and then a SB. (assume they are the 3 or 4 seed)

The NFC has a tough road with landmines. In 2005, we had the #1 seed, won those 2 home games to get to the show and lost that controversial SB. I will say that the Skins and Panthers weren't that great in '05. If a WC team has to attempt to go through the Hawks and Saints on their turf = extremely difficult.

It's been awhile since chalk ruled the day and this looks like the year. Eventually, it comes back to the mean.

:agree:, wouldn't put any hard earned cheese on them for certain...but, I'm not a huge fan of the OC there...just too many good players on OFC not to be better. The difference in this CIN team imo is the DEF...losing the big fella hasn't crippled them.

NFC...today SF would go to DET...I could see the 49ers winning and winning in SEA...CAR @ DAL, tough call but I like the Panthers...and I think they can win in NO.

Stranger things have happened.

I disagree.

In 2009 it was the Vikings with Brett Farve at QB people were ready to give the Lombardi to. Who won it? The Saints.

How were the Vikes crowned early when they lost more games than the Saints and the Saints had home field throughout the playoffs?

Because Farve was having arguably the best season of his career behind one of the (if not THE) best defense in the NFL.

It's only Bountygate that got the Saints the win.

That sounds like an amusing story. Please elaborate.
