Yankees love our backup catchers.
It's ALWAYS Whiteside's fault.
Not a bad career for him though, 2 rings, a 1 year of a full-time job, a grand slam as your first homerun all while having white hair before the age of 20. None of us can say that
He has more rings than almost all current Yankee players. If I'm not mistaken, only Jeter and Rivera have him beat.
So the Spanks are getting him so he can bring some championship experience to their clubhouse?
Interesting
Whiteside, who caught Jonathan Sanchez’s 2009 no-hitter for the Giants, has a 3.32 catcher’s ERA since 2009, according to the Yankees’ release announcing the claim. That would be the lowest among big-league catchers over that span.

He is also among the league leaders in gray hairs, with Andy Pettitte a distant second.

Veteran experience.... I see the Spanks still use some of Sabean's methods of building championship teams...

I hate when a key "board language" guy leaves the team. We should create board language for this right?
Crapstalgia? Fondness for an average ball player due to circumstances and clever board banter.
