With Antonio Brown getting paid, currently who do you think should be the top ten paid players in the NFL?

You can factor in age, career, importance of position, etc.

I think the list starts with the G.O.A.T.

Report: New York Giants apply franchise tag to Jason Pierre-Paul
The New York Giants just extended their window to negotiate a long-term contract with Jason Pierre-Paul.

Jason Pierre-Paul has been slapped with the NFL franchise tag by the New York Giants.

According to a source close to Pro Football Talk, the Giants have applied the franchise tag with the deadline looming.

The Giants needed to decide whether or not they would tag Pierre-Paul by March 1st at 4 p.m. EST. They have made their decision early.

The franchise tag number for defensive ends has not yet been set, but it is projected to be about $17 million. If the Giants do not agree to a long-term contract with Pierre-Paul, this number will account for more than half of their 2017 salary cap space. In other words, don't expect any major free agency splashes unless the Giants and Pierre-Paul can agree on a long-term contract by March 9th.

If the Giants do not agree to a long-term deal with Pierre-Paul, and if he agrees to sign the franchise tag, the team will have allocated $44 million in cap space to Piere-Paul, Olivier Vernon, and Damon Harrison. This would account for more than 25 percent of their total 2017 cap space. This does not include

The deadline to agree to a long-term contract with any franchise tagged NFL player is July 15, 2017, but the Giants will want to get a deal done earlier so they can better plan what to do in free agency and the draft.

This is the fourth time the Giants have used the franchise tag on a player since Jerry Reese took over as the team's general manager. Previously, they used the tag on Pierre-Paul in 2015, Steve Weatherford in 2012, and Brandon Jacobs in 2009.

A source tells SNY's Ralph Vacchiano that the Giants are working towards a long-term deal with Pierre-Paul.

Last week, we made the case for why applying the franchise tag was the best move for the Giants. The franchise tag can be a means to an end for the Giants. Slapping Pierre-Paul with the tag does not guarantee that he will play under the parameters of the franchise tag. There have been countless examples of teams using the franchise tag on a player as a way to prolong their internal negotiations with him and prevent him from hitting the open market. That's exactly what the Giants seem to be doing here with Pierre-Paul.

The free agent market is always hot for defensive ends. When you consider that 19 teams currently have more salary cap space than the Giants, and Pierre-Paul is the most attractive defensive end on the market at just 26-years-old, it was important to not let him get there. It only takes one NFL team to play the role of the Giants last offseason when they made Olivier Vernon an offer he couldn't refuse -- the richest contract for a defensive end in NFL history.

The Giants are dedicated to fixing their offense this offseason and the plan is already in action now, don't miss any updates , take a second to sign up for our FREE Giants newsletter!

Pierre-Paul finished the 2016 season with 54 combined quarterback pressures in just 11 1/2 games. He also tallied 7 batted passes at the line of scrimmage. He is a two-way defensive end who can also limit the run game when it comes to his side of the field. You don't often find players like Pierre-Paul, and that's why the Giants are doing everything in their power to make sure he's still on the roster in 2017.

Pierre-Paul has publicly stated that he will not play the 2017 season on a one-year contract, so this franchise tag is likely a means to an end for the Giants.

Pierre-Paul's teammates have gone all-in on showing their public support for the Giants to shell out the big bucks to ensure Pierre-Paul is back on the roster in 2017. In addition to Jenkins, Giants linebacker J.T. Thomas and defensive tackle Damon Harrison have posted similar sentiments to their social media accounts this offseason.

A report surfaced earlier this offseason that said he is seeking a deal that exceeds the five-year, $85 million contract the Giants gave Olivier Vernon last offseason. A panel of ESPN experts has projected that Pierre-Paul will sign a deal in the four-year, $59 million range.Pierre-Paul signed a one-year, $10 million contract with the Giants last offseason.

A panel of salary cap experts at ESPN projected that Pierre-Paul will receive a four-years, $59 million contract, with $21 million guaranteed. That works out to an average of $14.75 million annually -- just slightly under $15 million per season.

If the Giants allow Pierre-Paul to hit the open market, the Jacksonville Jaguars could snatch him up. They have a lot more cap space than the Giants, a much greater need at defensive end, and a VP of Football Operations who knows Pierre-Paul very well -- Mr. Tom Coughlin. The Jaguars were the runner-up in the Vernon bid last offseason and nearly snatched him away from the Giants in free agency.

As I said in the AJ Green thread the highest paid is not necessarily the best, it represents the most recently signed.

welllll, i waffled on watt, i kinda want to see how his back injury situation plays out. assuming he has no major complications going forward, then yes, he's definitely gotta be on that list.

Are we talking who are the top-10 players in the NFL or actual top-10 paid players? Because if we are talking the latter it will be all QB's which right now it is. The highest paid non-QB right now is Von Miller on a per year basis. His number won't take long to get beaten but again big difference between highest paid players and who the top-10 players are that should be making top dollar for their position.

Well then it would probably be the top-10 QB's in the NFL just because of the impact that a QB can have over any other position on the team
